We can also clearly do what Notts Forest, Wolves, Liverpool et al have done and invest into the existing facilities. Take Liverpool's new main stand (one stand of four!); the combined cost of the Main Stand, a new retail store, new playing surface and training ground is £200 million - and increased their in debt from £22 million to £67 million in the first year upon phase 1 completion. However, there has been an extra £12 million revenue attributed to the stand in its first season.  Again not comparable to SWFC, but the principles are the same.

 

The BC will assess whether we can extract quicker revenue out of Hillsborough or a new stadium.

 

 

Either way, it's going to have to happen at some point in the next decade.

with the club up against 'the wall' on ffp it's hardly shouting to potential investors 'get in here the waters fine', anyway we've heard sufficient on dc's family's interest, or lack of it.

whilst hillsborough is in need, and of course will receive some sort of 'improvements' over the next decade, the depth of those 'improvements' may not reach the level of some people's expectations.

the 'money' (biggest bucks) is to be made from promotion and staying there if possible, if not then up, down, and back up would be the next option.

It's all about generating extra cash for me. Derby owner Mal Morris sold their ground (valued at 39 million) last week for 80 million pound. Guess who bought it - another company owned by Mal Morris. They've now cleared their P&S issue and their books show a profit for the last 12 months.

Do we stay at Hillsborough and redevelop?

 

Well I just wish we had never left Bramall Lane.

 

Just think about it. We would have a stadium close to the city centre - more opportunities for corporate events, concerts etc.

 

More room for development and expansion.

 

Easier access from all parts of Sheffield.

 

More importantly, if we had remained at Bramall Lane :-

 

Sheffield United WOULD NEVER HAVE EXISTED !!!

 

Just think, Sheffield as a one club city! Judging from present average attendances of both clubs we would probably be looking at gates of 45000/50000, major investment from international companies, multi millions in Sky income,  cups, Premier league winners, Champions League......................

Do the league not look at transactions like that to ensure they are as us accountants say 'arm's length transactions' as in a related party isn't paying a non-market value to benefit another party under the same control?

 

If not, what's to stop Mr Chansiri buying 10 limited edition bobble hats from the club shop for £2 million each?

Risky. You can't overstate the value of assets under P&S. Well supposedly anyway. Otherwise Elev8 would be giving us 39 million for the shirt deal.

I think it's risky and wrong but 2 Derby season ticket holders at work have told me today and they're surprised by it too. There has to be a way that teams like Man City and PSG get around these things? If it were that easy for clubs with money to sidestep rules then they'd all be up to it. I'm going to look into the Derby thing a bit more.

Thank you, so apparently it is allowed. It still really is a quick fix though. It may get Derby out of a hole short term but if the don't get promoted, in a couple if years that profit will have been eaten up and they'll be in the same boat as they are now, only having to pay to use the stadium.

Plus they will have lost a £41m asset from the annual accounts & gained an extra expenditure in leasing back the stadium.

He paid cash, so they can’t trace the transaction.
