Re the chansiri or going up quote?

The Chansiri comment , How can seriously pay their debts  , that sort of thing would get him banned from football.

It wouldn't help.  The link between UK football finances and actual UK football supporters was broken long ago.

The money men and their preferred customers in Asia and the Middle East don't care about Bolton Wanderers or any other traditional old club for that matter.

Everyone apart from the top 12 or so 'global brands' going bust wouldn't matter one bit to them.  In fact if anything they might welcome it because no more threat of relegation and every match will be a 'big' game that the global TV market will lap up.

For the sake of the fans, my hope is that the club is saved or, at worst, goes into administration. Bolton will be hit by a points deduction if they go into administration and there will be some unfortunate businesses/organisations that won’t get paid what they are owed (if an administration exit package is agree) but at least the fans will still have a club.

Your argument that Bolton getting kicked out will solve the general problem of clubs overspending is too simplistic in my opinion. There is no silver bullet - the issue of overspending in football is complex. There are four main drivers that fuel overspending as far as I can see:

  • Player salaries
  • Player transfer costs
  • The financial rewards of participating in Europe’s top domestic leagues (particularly the Premier League)
  • The financial rewards of participating in the Champions League

Whilever the above are left ungoverned, unrestricted and largely ignored then the issues that Bolton currently face will continue.

Why doesn't Peter Kaye just step in? And that other Bolton dude Paddy someone off Blind Date?

Yeah, and Vernon Kaye, that guy off Eastenders in the 90s who all the lasses in my class fancied and the ghost of Fred Dibnah too.

Financial fair play eh. Working a treat.

It's historical debt that is the problem, not FFP. They have spent £220K on players since the 14/15 season, it's not like they've been spunking millions in the transfer market.

Yep, appreciate that.  But it further proves that FA/EFLs hard on for FFP is not addressing the real issues in football

Football is broken , and has been since the premier league and sky came along.  The PL would love to be a closed shop and stop promotion and relegation, that is not in dispute. But right now we have a system where the championship is a complete joke. you have clubs abusing the parachute payments by using that  money to buy yet more players on massive wages to try and buy their way to promotion, thus inflating the market at championship level . Yet when non parachute payment clubs try to spend money to compete , they are punished by the EFL. the whole set up is a joke.
