Is The Championship Really That Difficult.

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

We have been shambolic for half a season and looked nailed on to go down at one point yet we find ourselves 2 points outside the play offs, granted we have had a massive turnaround under Bruce.

The unclean currently sit 2nd, don't have a penny to scratch their filthy piggy arses with, have hardly spent a penny yet look world beaters.

Huddersfield went up a couple of seasons ago in much the same fashion as the grunters and at our expense.

So my question is, do we honestly think the Championship is really as difficult as people would have us believe.

I don't think we ever looked nailed on to go down

nailed on never to go up under Jos maybe

thing with the championship is you need a plan, today we looked like we had one

you could see players all along the team talking to each other

If you’ve got a good manager then your 90% of the way there in this division. Cardiff, Huddersfield, Brighton, probably the pigs have all been successful without spending vast sums of money

No, worst standard in years, our team of 2 years ago would have won the league.

Pity the fans couldn’t choose the Manager!

If Dross hadn’t been in charge for a wasted year we would have been up.

Maybe DC will start to listen

I think you've nailed it.

It's more of a level playing field this season with Norwich looking the most consistent of the top 6.

A few teams have under achieved along the way, and we've had our springboard at exactly the right time.

I think we've got to take a minimum of 19 points from the remaining games to be in with a shout as there's a couple of other teams outside the top 6 hitting purple patches as well.

Whether we sneak in this season or not, at least we're looking forwards to next season rather than thinking about how cack it's gonna be.

Worst league in years. Standard is appalling. We’ve been garbage for half a season and yet we still have a chance of a playoff place.

We had a lot of players out..  for one reason or another, and a Manager that wanted to build a side for the future. Blood the youngsters, before we released the out of contract players in the Summer, or sold whoever we could to sort the FFP situation.

Didn't work. Well if promotion was the aim, it didn't anyway.

Players returning and some new additions have made the difference, and the new Manager of course.

Hasn't there been tables posted on here, showing what's been spent by clubs, that shows that Huddersfield didn't do it on the cheap. That's a bit of a myth isn't it?

Think we've got some tougher games to come, and the renewed high expectations will lead to more overreacting when we drop points. lol

What do you mean by 'drop points'? Thought we were on our way?

United are showing that even with a bunch of poo players, keeping it tight at the back and sticking to sensible tactics can give you that consistency to go up

The top teams this season aren't of the same calibre we faced in Brighton, Newcastle etc in my view. It seems a weaker league this season

We were showing playoff-chasing form over the opening twelve matches, averaging 1.58 points per game and sitting 6th in the table. It was the next ten games which saw our form collapse, as we averaged only 0.5 points per game and slid down to 18th. Since Luhukay left, our form has been remarkable, averaging 1.97 points per game and steadily climbing back into contention.

It's easy to forget, but we started the season reasonably well and our form only took a nose-dive for a period of ten games, but what a nose-dive it was, eh? I'd love to know what went off behind the scenes during that October international break, as whatever it was totally decimated a season which had looked to be going okay up until that point. It's taken near automatic promotion form to drag us back into the reckoning after that disastrous second quarter of the season.

It's difficult, but don't think the teams are as good as what Newcastle and Brighton were. The quality has declined! Lots of decent teams without anyone been excellent!

The team we had that made the playoff final would win the league this year!

There’s 12 teams going for 6 places most years over the last 10-12 games and everyone beats each other, so it’s difficult.

If the championship isn't difficult, what have we been doing for the last 20 years?

This season is lacking the quality top teams of previous years. The teams who came down have struggled whereas in the past look there have been some real quality teams.

Stoke, Villa, West Brom, Swansea have struggled after coming down and inner turmoil within a club clearly has a massive effect.

Shame we didn't have our play off final team this season as I think it was better than every other team in this league and would have been right up there......well maybe not if Jos was still in charge.

Worringly we now go into another international break. Oh FFS.
