Another Sheffield Wednesday Club

Used to swim for Sheffield City back in the early seventies Dunsby

yellow n green cossies were the kit 

Hillsborough Baths 

Sutherland Road 

And Attercliffe 

Our arch rivals were Oak Street they swam in red white n black 

From Heeley they trained,

Dirty scrubbers only time they went neat water ...

True story.

Learnt to swin at Sutherland Road Baths - Swimming teacher called Mr Scott - took no prisoners !

Crikey dunsby, me too. Must’ve been back in the early to mid 60s.

 

The firm my Dad worked for used to have a weekly swimming night at Sutherland Road and Mr Scott taught us. Had a bark like a Regimental Sergeant Major.

 

Same firm had season tickets in the north and my Dad used to get the occasional use of them which is how I ended up an Owl.

It's a miracle she didn't drown trying to swim in that!

All the girls bought much bigger tops because they could be stood pool side for quite a while between events

he didn't write it.  I think it is the oldest song to ever make number one.  Written about 1900 I think, possibly about the American civil war or the first Boer war, can't remember. Wonderful song though about comradeship and love for ones friends.
