Crikey dunsby, me too. Must’ve been back in the early to mid 60s. The firm my Dad worked for used to have a weekly swimming night at Sutherland Road and Mr Scott taught us. Had a bark like a Regimental Sergeant Major. Same firm had season tickets in the north and my Dad used to get the occasional use of them which is how I ended up an Owl. I think it is the oldest song to ever make number one. Written about 1900 I think, possibly about the American civil war or the first Boer war, can't remember. Wonderful song though about comradeship and love for ones friends.
