SYP couldn’t get 2000 pigs in the ground for a midday Sunday kickoff, so it will interesting to see how they fare with rush hour Monday night traffic.

We used to. Then both clubs engaged in a process of giving away support a smaller allocation. The atmosphere has definitely suffered as a result.

They took a some seats out of lower tier to make room for disabled spaces, North West corner hasn't been used for ages, Wycombe last time I think.

I can't see it ever been used again in its present state.

That’s not exactly true. Both clubs used to give all clubs both tiers, so of course Wednesday and United had both tiers.

 

but in recent years Uniteds home crowds have increased, so now give all clubs just 1 tier as this enables home fans to acquire tickets.

On Saturday against Reading the Bramall Lane top tier was close to a sell out.

 

United give Wednesday the maximum available tickets (2,100)  that they give to all away clubs.

Wednesday give all clubs 4,600 tickets apart from against United (2,300).

Can understand clubs looking after their own fans but if the bottom tier is empty then that’s lost revenue and with the FFP pressure one would have thought that DC would prefer the additional revenue.

The home ends are hardly selling out so stop deluding yourself.

 

This season the average attendance is 25825  and last season 26614. This may be an increase on seasons before but hardly justifies reducing away allocation does it?

The top tier may have been nearly full on Saturday  (cheap tickets at a guess) but as you well know it is usually very sparsely populated. 

You lot give us 2.3k tickets, so as of last season we have reciprocated,  I think this is fair enough.

Don't get me wrong I prefer it when both grounds are full and the away ends have 4/5k in, but if you insist on only giving us just over 2k you can't complain when we give you the same treatment.

The days of both clubs having over 10k away fans at Derby games are long gone, but with a mutual agreement from both clubs 4/5k away fans  and a much better atmosphere all round could again happen.

 

Now bog off back to Bladesmad! (And that's being polite) :-)

Never said home areas are selling out.

i said for the SU last home game the upper tier on the Bramall Lane end was close to a sell out.

The South stand is almost sold out every match, the John Street stand is for families so must have a kid. Kop is camped with poor facilities. 

 

So if you want a decent seat and don’t have a kid, then there’s no where to go in the ground apart from the Bramall Lane upper tier.

Safety committee has reduced stadium capacity to 30,200., (28,000 home with 300 of those restricted view and 2,200 away) 

So only full view 27,800 seats for home fans, against Reading last week there was 26,000 home fans, so only 1,800 short of a home sell out.

The Bramall Lane upper tier has been used by home fans every match and is usually half full but overall BL is still usually 3 or 4,000 short of a home sell out.

Don’t believe Wednesday use the bottom tier for home fans, so it’s not a similiar situation.

 

Would love both stadia to be expanded/ improved with the Satefy Commitee allowing a full 5000+ away allocation at both grounds.

At the moment the home d3mand for both derbies is pretty similar so although your suggestion of 4K/ 5K away fans seem fair.

it would only be fair if the Bramall Lane capacity was increased to 35K (matching Hilsboro’s current capacity) otherwise 3,000 home fans would miss out on a ticket.

Agree with the sentiment though that it would be great to go back to both clubs have both tiers of the away end.

im not too sure about birminghams capacity ,but don't know if they use the stand anymore above the away support ,as with derbys there are always massive restrictions if there were 24k id guess it was sold out as villa have a massive away support and they both detest each other , our capacity this season is I believe around or just under 35000 but with sag having massive restrictions for this game  the capacity might be nearer 31-32000 . the lower west wont be open as we aint going to sell out the kop grandstand or south stands id guess 29k tops

Agree.

Seems petty and childish for the club itself to give United a lower allocation for no other reason than its United and stuff them.

Fans can be a bit narrow minded, part of being a fan but think the club itself should raise above small minded tribalism wherever possible.

They've got an extra 650 tickets, which is basically all the upper tier.

The official capacity at BL is 32,702. Minus whatever the SYP deem an acceptable number of seats to net over (front 4 rows of upper tier, end section of South and John St etc.)

 

9th Nov 2018 - 30,261 (officially listed as sold out) - 92.5% of capacity

12th Jan 2018 - 31,120 (officially listed as sold out) - 95.1% of capacity

 

The official capacity at Hillsborough is 39,732. Minus whatever the SYP deem an acceptable number of seats to net over (front 4 rows of upper tier... anything else, I don't know??)*

 

24th Sept 2017 - 32,839... maybe the 2 and the 8 are listed in the wrong places on the BBC website? - 82.7% of capacity.

 

*But i do know it's not >6,000 seats netted over.

I presume the club have accepted we won't need the Lower Lepp, which will mean United will have the rows at the front.
