Iorfa is definitely a centre-half

I don't get this. Surely if we release Palmer then we'd need to sign another to replace him (2 for each position) as we would only have Iorfa to play there. Im not including baker cos i do believe hes out of contract too and I just don't rate him. So we'd be foolish not to offer Palmer a new deal as it would cost more money to get someone else in, Palmer won't be on big wages either.

The same argument can be made for most of the out of contract players!

The squad is top heavy and has to be pruned back, SB has already said this.

The only one to survive the cull would be Westwood............. and a big maybe on Hooper if he could prove his fitness in the last third of the season. All the rest will go!

Based on what?

Based on him playing it at previous clubs and having discussed it as an option in interviews since. I am sure it is not set in stone and he will be taking the opportunity to consider what will be the best formation for the core of the squad to build on in the remaining games but it is an option he will be considering. Either way, I would expect Iorfa to feature at CB at some point given that he mentioned this as his preferred choice after the move so I would imagine it was something he discussed before agreeing to sign for us.

What I find funny is the usual Palmer detractors have to increase their anti - Palmer post count in an attempt to overcome the fact that the majority can now see what a good player he is.

Thankfully it is just the odd poster now.

I am glad he is finally winning over the fan base, he deserves it.

He's never played this well though has he. Bit like Nuhiu 2nd half of last season. I like Palmer, he supports the club. Hes a fan and a player but lets be honest he's never been that good a player at this level.

Apart from when he won player of the season?

For the money we reportedly paid I think he’s a great acquisition as he can play both positions. He had a whole Championship season at RB with Ipswich did he not? His pace and height can only be a good thing at CB but probably only with a wiser more organised head next to him.

I think Iorfa looks like a great acquisition but I maintain that he definitely is a centre-half  (he’s stated that himself) and looked like a centre-half playing fullback yesterday. He can do a job there, great, but I can’t see him deposing Palmer. If we are going to replace Palmer then we need a bloody good specialist right back to do so in my humble opinion. I don’t understand the mindset that implies that Palmer is or has been cheating the club by proving he’s a good fullback recently - I think he’s been good all season but I’ll not pursue that argument.

Back to Iorfa: he looks like a bloody good acquisition because he’s obviously a centre-half that can fill in at fullback if needed but he also looks athletic enough to cover in defensive midfield also.

We need better in every position if we want to progress but to say he has never played this well is obviously not correct is it , hence his player of the season award .

but hey you believe what you want to believe .

In my eyes he is / was better than Jack Hunt but got pushed back because we paid money for Hunt ,

In the 2nd half on Saturday, did you see his run down the flank and early cross into the box. perfect for right full back or wing back. the lad has pace to burn (not really seen the quality of his crosses yet as he has not had enough game time, but surely it cannot be any worse than Palmers delivery), Pace its what we have been lacking.

Having said that, if Palmer keeps playing like he did on Saturday, he deserves the shirt.

You can't argue with the Palmer haters.

They are relentless. They will their defend their (ridiculous) opinion forever. It will only end when Palmer no longer plays for us.

Its the definition of trolling.

Iorfa has good pace and great anticipation but he isn’t a fullback. He’s the sort of player I’d describe as having raw talent.  He did really well when he came on but I can’t see him deposing Palmer (who was fvvcking excellent yet again by the way.

Can’t use his explosive pace (going forward) at centre back

Jack Hunt was definitely better than Palmer IMO. You wouldn’t have got anyone paying us £1.6m for Palmer like they did with Hunt

Palmer is having a good spell though, long may it continue.

I’m not so sure Palmer played as much nearly as much under Carlos as Hunt , was hunt 1.6M BETTER than Palmer and the answer was no, one assist in his 3 years he wasn’t good enough and isn’t even first choice at Bristol now either.
