Jordan Lonchar left

Recommended Posts

Jordan Lonchar has been released by the looks of it.  No Longer on the U23'a website profiles and now turning out for Worksop U19's and Jubilee Rangers U21's in the Meadowhall League.  Don't know what's happened here but he has just turned 19, had been a regular this season in the U23's and signed a pro contract in the first year of his scholarship.  Was deemed the most promising of our youngsters a year or two ago.  Ripped up the U18's with Hirst and Preston.  What's happened?

Probably just like Hirst. Not actually that good.

Yes but they would have loved to have sorted something out with Hirst and kept him. May have been crapin Belgium but the way Jos was blooding youngsters he would have featured quite a bit in the first team last season and if he had done well who knows what wold have happened this season.

Not every promising youngster makes it

After lonchar as left the club doesn't look like an abundance of clubs looking to offer him anything

Wouldn’t surprise me if Preston was actually released as well. It’s tough, and not many youngsters make it, despite promising beginnings. I suppose, to get Thorniley and Penney out of that group, plus receive fees of sorts, for Clare and Hirst, isn’t bad. Generally, if you can get one, or two, out of an intake, you’ve done pretty well. For the lads released, it’s a setback, but not the end of the world, plenty have gone on to claim decent careers in football

Had some of my best years in Meadowhall League - maybe, not all bad for the lad.

Agree with this.................when i first watched this group a few years ago i thought Hirst, Clare and Penney were the ones with a chance, didnt see Thorniley doing as well as he has, but yeah 2 or 3 from each group is pretty good IMO.

Do not jump to conclusions, everyone appears to think its the clubs decision. There  are better things in life than playing for Wednesday.

True enough. But given the opportunity to become a proffesional footballer and what goes with it is a big thing to turn down unless there's something else on offer with equaling rewards.

Lonchar got injured in final year of Academy and has not been as prolific since his return. He has been on periphery of the u/23s most of this season.

The leagues the u/18 and u/23s play in are not great and transition to first team is difficult. If you fail to shine at u/23 level no real chance at first team level. For some reason the Academy selected a lot of small players who do not have much scope for development and Lonchar was one of those. Its interesting that since Bruce arrival a youth recruitment specialist is in process of being recruited.

I spoke to somebody at club at beginning of season and asked about young players and he mentioned several promising ones they had hopes for none were from the u/23 team (previously mentioned this on forum several months ago). This surprised me at time as I thought we had several promising players in the u/23s.

Ive heard Preston has been offered a contract at Rangers so he will be applying his trade there next year. IMO good move for him, he's not gonna get the chance here, even tho in my opinion he was impressive when he played in the first team.

Sorry to be a pain as I haven't seen the previously mentioned threads but who are the ones that the club does have hopes for ?? I'm assuming Hamoud and Hagan are 2 ?

Can see Hirst returning sometime soon for barnsley or donny

Hirst is no longer in match day squad for his team. Since Pearson was sacked he has not featured at all. In last game they had best result of season and are now off the bottom of league.

The standard of Belgian second tear is about same as National League and his record of 2 goals in 18 games is not going to send scouts racing to see him. He is on 5 year contract and presumably it was at a decent level so unlikely many will want to offer similar terms.

I think he has not been best advised and whatever talent he has or future in game are not best served by some of decisions made.

He certainly showed intensity and energy which is required in todays football. I thought he would make it as a professional player but not at top level as did not have real pace.
