We've not replaced Wallace

Disagree with OP. We've replaced Wallace with a clone of him. Boyd can't beat a man for pace. Can't beat a man with skill. Always chooses to stop, turn & pass backwards. Will cross the ball now & again from yards away from the byline. How he's keeping that younger, faster, more skillful loanee out is beyond me.

So Boyd has equalled Wallace’s contribution in your opinion?

We haven’t replaced Wallace, Loovens, Hunt, Pudil, Lee or Hooper.

None of Lees, Hutch, Bannan or Forestieri look as good as they did.

Since the playoff final you can only really make a case for Hector and Reach as players who have actually added anything to that team.

The transfer dealings of this club since that day have been a complete disaster. Poor decision after poor decision. What a huge summer coming up.

Actually Reach has not delivered as expected because most people thought we were getting a wide attacking player down the left, nipping forward and crossing. Hector seems v inconsistent.

Wierdly, watching the old 2-3 Rotherham highlights its clear how much we miss Lee and a player like McGugan.

Players with legs, forward thinking, urgency - McGugan went completely off the rails and Lee has suffered horrendous injuries but we've just never replaced them to give us a strong midfield.

No. That’s not possible due to their amount of appearances, time at the club & goals. But their style & inabilities are the same.

Can’t remember Boyd being used on dead balls too much. Wallace’s dead balls provided the ammunition that took us to the play offs twice.

Totally agree with Wallace bit of OP - he was probably the player Udders feared most and he lasted 5 minutes in the play off semi second leg - the turning point? By the end of last season - OK - maybe he wasn’t all he’d been, but some folk on here were dreadfully insensitive about his injury and ungrateful for his contribution. I wish them curried piles.

I had mi doubts about the acquisitions of Fletcher Jones Abdi and Boyd but they were bought because they were proven performers who “knew what it took” rather than promising performers who wanted to prove they had what it takes.

New manager - new challenge. He’s bound to pick Boyd at the moment cos he knows what he can do but he will hardly sanction another contract unless there’s a miraculous turn around in form.

Thanks Ross, sorry it hasn’t quite worked out George. UTO

You’re right, we don’t have a midfielder who can carry the ball down the wing, cut back and whip it in

the basics of any football team

apart from bannan, hutch and FF I can’t tell what the rest of the outfield players are supposed to be good at

Reach, Boyd, Joey, matias

just empty footballers, athletes who run around a bit

Didn’t Reach do exactly this for FF to score on Saturday and for Joao to score the other week
