Our biggest miss imo is a box to box midfielder like Kieren Lee.

He cropped up in the area with a few goals and made runs to support whichever forward was playing  . Available for knockdowns that would come from the front man. He was in defence adding to the numbers.

Do we have anybody in the development squad who could do the same job?

We have no connection between defence and attack. Nobody can run with the ball turning defence into attack.

We need Kieren  back or somebody with his capabilities.

Agree but id be amazed if Wednesday offered him a new contract under the circumstances we are in.

Disagree. Having Lee back - nice as it would be to see - would put us back where we were 2-3yrs ago with him & Hutch in midfield, which was still a bit lightweight. What we need is an all-rounder like Jake Livermore. Athletic, gets stuck in, and can play.

Said the same on Saturday, we don't get enough runners into the box and Lee was the best in the division at doing that. There aren't many players like that around which makes it even more annoying that he's been out for over a year.

Nope, that Rhodes mysteriously disappeared on the journey Huddersfield-Blackburn-Middlesborough-Sheffield.

We have gone backwards since he got injured, there`s no getting away from that . He was the driving force in the team .

We could do with him now. Correct.

But just wait till derby day and we can't combat Fleck and Norwood.

It's nice to think we'd beat them.

It's nice to think we're the better team.

But at this moment. We need to accept and respect their league position.

Starting Boyd is a complete failure of planning towards next season.

To start Boyd when you have just acquired a pacy wide man in Aarons is madness.

As long as midfield can keep up with him to get in box for his crosses then he has to be first choice.

Is Onamah the Kieren Lee replacement? Providing he has the right work rate . He is young strong and athletic and could be the man.

Sell bannan, too lightweight and deep. Livermore or similar, a couple of those please and a playmaker, 6ft 4 and 15 stone and can run 100m in 11s flat. Cheers

Seems strange to never watch them but be able to tell where they are going wrong and what they need.

I think Onomah was meant to be the man to do that.

Pity he got the Wednesday injury problem as soon as he got into the team.

Definitely missing a midfielder to break in the box. Can’t believe there isn’t a gem in league one who pops up with 10 goals a season doing this. We have no one who makes that late run in the box. Bannan sits too far out and hutch is never going to provide that. It’s not a surprise we don’t score enough goals.

Yes, I suspect he was intended for that role - but we've hardly seen the benefit of him.

I think it is a real weakness in our team the complete lack of goals from Midfield.

Everyone raves about Bannan but his goal to game ratio is extremely poor, he simply does not create or score enough goals.

For me though unfavourable with most I feel for us to improve as a midfield unit big decisions in the summer need to be made and one of them is selling Bannan and bringing a player who scores more goals from central midfield Bannan (1 every 14), Reach(1 every 6), Boyd (0 in 6), Hutch (0 in 11), Pelupessy (0 in 22), Onomah (0 in 8).

Then compare this to any team in the top 10 of the table we have just 8 goals from midfield all season it is simply not good enough you would expect a championship quality midfielder to be getting 1 goal every 5 or 6 games.

For me get rid of Bannan for a few million bring in a free agent in Powell who at 24 has a lot of league experience and also scores goals and will improve with age and playing with better players. Bring in Maddison from Peterborough another who can be brought in on a free who in league 1 over the last 4 seasons has average 1 in every 4 games, yes its league 1 but this guy can step up in the same way Dack did this season for Blackburn.

Instead of sticking by the under performing players move then on and bring in younger hungry better players that will improve us as a team and also players we can improve if in 12-18 months we sell then they are sold at profit not waiting until they are out of contract and leave on a free.

You do not need two sitting midfield players, Livermore is defensive midfield player and does Hutch role. I think we need Kieran Lee and another quicker/high energy midfield player if we play 3 in midfield  We are currently too slow at build ups and things breakdown too easy.

Your comment about lightweight midfield was highlighted in we were slow to build up and it allowed large lumps to close down on Hutchinson and Lee in other words lack of pace in front of them  It was easy to blame goalkeeper and defence when we were conceding lots of goals earlier in season but now we have settled shape, stopped messing about with ball at back and one proper defensive player in midfield team look altogether more secure. Therefore think problem with midfield is also to do with slow players in front of them. This also hinders creative players as less room to play and fewer options to pass the ball.

Hull went up with two holding mids (Huddlestone & Livermore) and Diamé box-to-box. There are times our midfield is so weak we can't get a foothold in the game. That's when we see defenders bypass midfield and launch to Fletcher like first half last night.
