10 x better 2nd half. Hope Bruce now realised how important Bannan is centrallybrstherbtgan wide left.

WW 8 solid as the most solid rock

Palmer 8 excellent yet again.

Hector 9 colossus

Thorniley 8 not far behind Hec

Fox 8 not bad for a lad who should never start

FOUR CLEAN SHEETS - Brilliant defence. Can build on this.

Bannan 8 everywhere 2nd half. Controlled our play.

Joey 5 looked what he is. Limited.

Hutch 8 impressive all night

Reach 6 ok not his best

Joao 6 why is he so poor when he starts?

Fletch 7 great battling and much better 2nd half.

Boyd 7 good move by Bruce. Much better balance when he came on allowing BB to go central. Boyd didcwell.

FF did more in 15 mins than in 85 Saturday. Much livelier and showed effort.

Lots of promise. Especially 2nd half when he got our shape sorted.

Westwood - 7 - Commanded his area well, but despite Millwall's Heathen-esque direct approach, rarely troubled after the early application of pressure.

Palmer - 7 - Man of the Match - Second MotM in a row from me...going to need to go and have a cold shower. Defended well (as did the entirety of the back four) and was a good outlet offensive down the right flank.

Hector - 7 - Won some crucial aerial duals in our box, and dealt with Cooper really effectively from set pieces. His distribution wasn't great at times tonight though.

Thorniley - 7 - Seem like I always write the same about Thorniley. Heads it, wins it, kicks it. Defending at its simplest. But why complicate it. It's working a treat. Plays well beyond his years.

Fox - 7 - Another solid display from Fox, and could have easily got the Man of the Match nod. Got in some great positions in the 2nd half, and was strong aerially once again.

Pelupessy - 4 - Our 1st half display was awful...and Pelupessy was the ring leader. Careless with the ball, neither protecting nor pressing in the midfield. Seemed so off the pace, and as a result we could not get a grip on the game nor advance up the pitch. Deservedly dragged at half time.

Hutchinson - 6 - He was as poor as Pelupessy in the 1st half, chasing shadows at times. But stepped it up hugely in the 2nd half and dictated the central areas from the restart with Bannan alongside him.

Bannan - 6 - Well the decision to move him out to the left wing was a disaster. We couldn't get any grip of the game and the game just bypassed Bannan by. But, like Hutchinson, stepped it up 2nd half and benefitted hugely by moving back into central midfield.

Reach - 5 - Another performance lacking any sort of quality in key areas. Things are neat and tidy, but this side needs more from him, with so few creative outlets.

Fletcher - 5 - He might as well have gone and sat in the stand in the 1st half. Won nothing (although they wasn't much in the way of quality service) and failed to retain the ball for any meaningful length of time. Improved in the 2nd half, and worked tirelessly again. But he needs to get into goalscoring positions more often. We got to the byline on a number of occasions today, but Fletcher is rarely in a decent poachers position. Should have done better with the chance at the end.

Joao - 5 - Abysmal in the 1st half (recurring theme here). Looked uninterested and half-arsed. Benefitted in the 2nd half with Bannan starting to dictate things in the middle, but still wanting more from a talented player.

Boyd - 6 - His introduction certainly improved the teams performance. Worked hard, but offers little in terms of quality and creativity.

Overall...the 1st half was as bad as it's been all season. Devoid of any quality when on the ball. It literally became a game of who could kick it the furthest. The quality was as bad as I've seen from any two sides all season. Thankfully the change at half time ensured we got a bit more quality into key areas and we started to take control of the game...without really asking Millwall too many questions.

It was a poor display, and even though the 2nd half was an improvement...it was nowhere near good enough. Millwall are dreadful (worse than Reading), and we've failed to ask them any meaningful questions. That's a concern. One goal in three games against three of the worst sides in the (a very poor) division isn't good enough.

And we'll still have fans thinking we can launch a late surge of the playoffs...we're miles off.

Scores on the doors

Westwood 7 Wonderful save 76th, he wasn't to know player was offside

Palmer 7 Decent game, but his awful crossing almost cost us, 76th minute, he has chance to put a decent ball in, but plays it straight to Millwall player on edge of area who breaks out resulting in the save from Westwood above

Fox 7 Never put a foot wrong but ineffective going forward

Hector 6 I love this guy, but 3 terrible mistakes in the game, most shaky game he's had in our shirt

Thorniley 8 Always in the right position

Reach 6 Shadow of his usual self, that's 5 or 6 poor games now

Pelupessy 5 Not up to the job at the moment

Hutchinson 7 Typical Hutch

Bannan 6 Ineffectual first half, a bit of a purple patch for 20 minutes in the second half, but faded away

Fletcher 6 Got bullied by the Millwall centre back, improved slightly second half, no link up with strike partner

Joao 6 Some nice touches but not on the same wavelength as the rest of the side, must improve

Boyd 6 Worked hard but expect more from an ex premier player

Forestierri 5 Not on for very long, gave him 5 for that free kick, you're not going to score from there Fernando

Westwood   -   6   One dodgy parry aside he was solid , didn't like the slow timing in a match we should be looking to win

Palmer   -   6   Defended OK , nothing of note going forward

Hector   -   7   Defended very well , passing was poor

Thorniley   -   6   occasional lapses , generally OK

Fox   -   6   Defended OK , rabbit in the headlights in the final third

Pelupessy    -    3   Nothing against the lad , he is a trier but the "future captain" is a desperately limited player

Hutchinson   -   6   Did alright , seen him play much better

Bannan   -   5   And I`m a Bannan fan...……..a few decent touches mixed with far too much careless and quite frankly poor stuff for a player of his ability

Reach   -    4    First touch was appalling as was his decision making

Joao   -   4    Once again gets a start and fails to perform......was like watching a dog chase a balloon , so frustrating

Fletcher    -    5    No shortage of effort as per but he was like a human pinball , nothing stuck, and the last gasp effort summed up his performance

SUBS

Boyd   -   5    Actually looked bright for 10 - 15 mins before reverting to type

Forestieri    -    6    gave us some zip but spoiled it with two awful dead ball efforts

OVERALL

An absolute dog of a game...……..so, so frustrating because we only had to raise our game from abject to plain awful and it looked like it would be enough to win, but the players lack of desire and determination to grab hold of the game and all three points was hard to stomach...…………...and as for our set pieces !!!!!!!

The only positive is SB is getting to see the REAL picture.

Second half was OK for an away performance.  The back five were solid, particularly Hector, Thorniley, and Westwood. Palmer and Fox also did OK, tried to push forward.

keeper and back 4 all worth a 7....5 & 6s for the rest of them . ……… the lack of attacking intent  made it seem  we were  happy to take point which is a bit disappointing .

Considering you are a numbers man, some of your ratings have zero correlation with the overall performance and score.

God forbid we scrape a 1-0 win against Rotherham, it will be 10’s across the board!

Haha.

Why though?

A rock solid defence - avg 8

Hutch and Bannan who protected them well - avg 7

Reach and Boyd who were ok - avg 6.5

Joey terrible - 5

Maybe my 6 for Joao and 7 for a Fletch were one point high each.

Hector really does look a quality player. Find it crazy he has played for so many clubs yet hasn’t signed permanently for them. I really hope we can sign him in the summer.

Thank God for that....someone else who saw the same Héctor performance as me.....very lucky to not be having the finger pointed at him for 3 goals.....why people think knocking a 40 yard ball makes up for having it taken off you on several occasions on the edge of your own area is beyond me

Boyd is awful. Absolutely awful. Weak, no ability on the ball, poor passing and ironically to say people laud his work rate he offered fox limited cover when he came on. The sooner we see the back of Boyd the better.

I get what you're saying. But as SB is giving everyone a fair crack of the whip I'd like to see both Boyd and Reach playing on their favoured side. Boyd is so one footed even if he does beat his man he can't cross it with his left. Playing on the right might give him less to have to think about and free up his game. Same with Reach.

Westwood 8

Palmer 6

Hector 8 - MOM

Thorniley 8

Fox 6

Reach 5

Hutchinson 7

Pelupessy 4

Bannan 5

Fletcher 5

Joao 6

Boyd 6

Forestieri 7

The diamond of Westwood Hector Thorniley and Hutchinson were again impressive against a tough well organised Millwall side with a good striker in Gregory.

Full backs were good defending but offer little going forward.

Pelupessy was appalling.

The attacking players although better second half were poor, Joao showed some nice touches but was lacking people around him to play with, Forestieri should have come on for Fletcher as he made a difference when he did but playing with Joao helps him.

Solid point but the lack of attacking is a worry.
