.Abraham 64 championship games 45 goals …joao's record is t around 26 in 120 …...bruce will really go up in my estimation if he can pull off a straight swap deal with those two .

IMO Joao has much more ability and potential to progress at a higher level, we have seen Abraham really struggled in the Prem as his game is limited, I do rate him at this level as a goal scorer but wouldn't swap him for Joao. It's easy to look at stats in isolation, much like people did with Jordan Rhodes. I accept many people would agree with you but not for me.

Bang on, I agree, Joao’s all round game, which hopefully Bruce will work with him on, is better than that of Abraham He is far from the finished article, or actually not so far. He definitely needs to build up his strength, and work on his decision making, but he has all the attributes to be a very good modern day striker Having said that, I could put up with Abraham, while Joao adds the finishing touches to his game

No, the endless passing about at the back doesn't work - getting the ball forward quickly, to feet,

is what we've missed, especially while Hooper, Lee and FF have been missing.

You get found out just as much by lumping it forward time after time, as well as square passing.

you don't do ANYTHING ALL THE TIME, under carlos we saw how one idea alone gets sussed.

hit the forward who knocks it on, hit the forward to lay it off, hit the channel for the runner, hit the wingman to take the f/b on.

Not a striker for me, better at running with the ball through the middle like Sheridan or on the left wing. Just isn't tall enough to play up front. Good shot but often fluffs, remember those 2 chances against Leeds a few years back?  Still scored some screamers though

It will be interesting to see how Bruce uses Fernando. At Ipswich, he was allowed to roam, mainly playing in the hole but also appearing left and right He obviously didn’t have his shooting boots on, but he could have had five. For a striker, they say it’s all about getting in the right place, and he certainly did that on Saturday. Bruce has rarely played a pair of strikers as such, preferring a single striker down the middle, with support from the flanks. Often one of the wide attackers would actually be a striker

From how it sounds and what he's done in the past, Bruce has the potential to get several players firing ... Rhodes, Winnal, Nunu, Fessi etc ..

Wasnt Nunu The blue vacuum cleaner in the Teletubbies?

Kept that signing quiet.

Good sweeper though.

Having the strikers roaming is fine , and FF has to play that way, but you need other players getting into the box from midfield.

Preferably ones who finish chances, we don’t have that without Lee.

I suppose that depends on the role we envisage for Reach. He doesn’t get many goals from inside the box, but you suspect he could He does add goals from midfield, unless we switch him wide again, and then he won’t get so many

He needs a more mobile player alongside him, in my opinion. Out of those we have, Hooper if he was fit. If not, I’d be tempted to go with Joao. I do have reservations that Joao might not be strong enough to lead the line, but he might be worth a try. I think it’s an issue Bruce will resolve in the summer. Fletcher really needs a player like Dwight Gayle alongside him, but we don’t have anyone like that

I figure hooper whilst as sharp as a tack in and around the box, cannot cover the ground needed to support fletcher outside the box, and would slow play down.

João can support fletcher, but still has to improve this term to have the realistic chance to make the position his next term.

I agree with the likelihood that out of our posse of support strikers all will be found short of the mark, and a 'marksman' fetched in.

Finally we might have got a manager to get the best out of Nando, Bruce is bang in here...

Bruce told The Star: "I don't believe that Forestieri is a left hand sided player. He is off the front and a bit of a free spirit. "I know he is going to be hard work but I like him. He has got a bit of devil in him. He's a good footballer and if we can get him smiling again and keep him fit then, for me, he's as good a player as there is in the Championship."

Agreed, I’d been hoping someone eventually was going to try him in the free role just behind the striker.

We finally get a decent manager in and it looks like we might see Nando realise his potential.

WOAH!   Isn't it time we took a look at ourselves. Face facts We beat a side looking doomed for relegation by a LAST MINUTE GOAL. That hardly makes us Worldbeaters.

The team we played included ONE SB player, and that as a substitute.

SB has been in post for two days prior to the game and has taken ONE practice, yet he is the new Messiah.

I am NOT running down SB, in fact I approve his appointment, but we are playing the team that Jos 'built and f**ked about with.. I would venture to suggest that the kudos should fall on Agnew and his oppo.

If yesterday's performance is the Steve Bruce standard, and I don't think for a minute it is, we are up a very long creek without even a canoe let alone a paddle.

I'm not trying to be a spoil sport, just waiting for the horse to be saddled before the race.

Jos built a team with hutch Westwood and FF did he? Your having a laff surely?
