Official Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Recommended Posts

Westwood has an option to have his existing contract extended by the club, I think what the club are trying to do it get him to sign for longer but on lesser terms.

Would be a good idea but may get the players back up. Lets hope he stays no matter what.

Pompey looking to cash in on Jamal Lowe. He’s the sort of lower league player who might be worth looking at. A 24 year old winger/striker with 16 goals and 9 assists last season. Be a decent option as a wide attacker, though it depends on how much they’d want for him

Yep.

And by that reasoning, there's no reason why we can't hold out to recoup most of what we paid for him

Norwich would struggle to find a striker with Rhodes scoring record (and add in the factor that he already knows the system, the club, the dressing room) for less than £4-5m.

If Wednesday hold their nerve, given with Norwich paid in loan fees and bonuses last year, we could well get very close to recouping what we paid for him.

I am certain Norwich do not have cash to buy big.

Norwich had to sell last summer or face administration. Think they had to raise about £20 million. They have no mega wealthy backers and reason they are keeping squad together is they do not have finance to splash out big. They could loan against end of season sky money but do not think that is there style. Rhodes they are hoping is cheap option and suspect they can have for similar probably slightly more than they paid last season with possible additions if they stay up etc. They do not want to get into Swansea type situation which has meant them having to sell everything on return to championship. So not in a position to spend big.

Think Sheff Utd got similar strategy targeting lower level players and will use money at end of season to invest. This strategy was used by West Brom and Burnley and eventually became established until bad choice of manager created problem for West Brom.
