This kid has some searing pace and left footed. Seen him several times this season and he’s dangerous. Worth a look steve if you’re reading. Lol. West Brom are keen. Presumably that prices us out. To be fair a league 2 player rarely goes for much more than £2M maximum so maybe we'd have a chance.

We've got two or three defenders now that can play different positions, which is good.

I'm confident we'll have a little bit to play with if we need it. I mean we spent £250k on Iorfa in January didn't we. Anyway depending on terms most are paid in instalments anyway these days. Trust Bruce to be smart, like he stated he only did a less than £2M net spend last summer with Villa. Albeit wages are huge for them.

owl_with_laughter
Iorfa will be our first choice right back and so he should be. Offers so much more than palmer.

frastheowl
I wouldn't see the Börner signing as an indication that Hector isn't re-signing. We'll 100% make Hector our main priority this summer, but with Pudil leaving, and Van Aken most than likely surplus to requirements, we're lacking in the central defensive areas for cover. If he can also potentially cover left back and a holding midfield role (two areas we are weak in), then the signing of Börner does make sense, assuming he's up to the required ability to perform in the Championship. The fact that Norwich offered him a long term deal at the same time they were signing the likes of Marco Steipermann, Onel Hernandez, Christoph Zimmermann and Mario Vrancic offers some encouragement. All of those players came from 2. Bundesliga (with the exception of Zimmermann, who came from the Regionalliga, lower down the German pyramid), and all of those players have played key roles in their domination of the Championship this season.

Groundhopping Owl
Iorfa and Palmer have both proven to be very useful utility players to have across defence - that's a major bonus when we need to make having a better-value squad a focus for us. I wish Lees had a bit more in terms of organisational/leadership capabilities - our defence looked lost after Loovens left until Westwood came back in. Not sure he's the right one to hold the armband, which currently pretty much secures his place in the team.

Agree, if Hector came back, if this Bonar arrives who's been captain of his present club, Westwood if he stays would he better options, Lees too quiet, we need a roll your sleeves up, shouter baller. Groundhopping Owl
Do we think taking the captaincy off Lees is worth it or would it cause too much of a ruction in the dressing room? Personally I’ve never been convinced he’s embraced the role in the same way that Loovens did. He’s a great servant for the club, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t know if he relishes the leadership role or if he’d be happier just quietly getting on with it and leaving the organising and motivating to somebody else. If you read comments on Lee he wants players who cover 12k to 15k per game. Lee has covered 14k in games. Hector will get nowhere near that. Would not be a surprise to see Lee not start or be moved on. Yet he picked Huddleston every game at Hull.
