Popular Post Cheshowl
We should have taken the game to Chelsea today. We’d have probably got beat anyway but what’s the point in sitting in against a Chelsea side that you know you’re going to concede against. Think our players have been a bit cowardly in going forward too, seem too scared to make a run or play a killer pass. 4 4
fudge27
Agree: can see the aense it keeping it tight for 15 to get a foothold but then we never went for it. Rather lose 3-0 having a go and being picked off then 1-0 (or 3/4 anyway) trying to snatch a draw. Poor tactics
McRightSide
I agree it’s too conservative, I’d rather us go down fighting rather than playing for a replay Agnew gave it away in the pre-match interview when he even mentioned the replay as if there was no chance of a win I can understand the approach - it’s just not what i would do - I’m more concerned with the fact that we’ve been setting up in a similar fashion in the league TBH. Hearing Agnew say beforehand that we might be able to get them back to Hillsborough confirmed our approach. Either that or we really are that poor and as fans we just don't see it. Swiss Toni
The starting line-up wasn't one to go for it, more to contain. Shame they'd scored 2 before we brought Forestieri and Joao on.
Guest Bulgaria
In fact, having thought about it a little bit more, I've come to the conclusion that we are just shiit.
GMOwl72
Smacks of setting the team up not to get a hammering. Probably happy with 3-0. ‘We move on’ rounduns!
owls66
Just feel for the fans that have gone down there tonight to watch us roll over and have our bellies tickled. Sooner Bruce comes in the better. Edited January 27, 2019 by owls66

roundhayowl
It's not the result that is frustrating fans - it's the way we played. Even when we had time with the ball we just gave it away - it was like rabbits in the headlights. He should have started with Joao and Nando - nowt to lose at all. Starting with Hutch and Pelupessy was criminal.
Rogers
I think they could have scored when they wanted to be fair, their brains and feet are are on another level its a tough one, no one would have wanted a 6, 7,8 nil on tv

Pastor Kidneys
We just flat out refuse (whoever is in charge) to give it a go and entertain the fans 1 up top does not work with these players as shown only last week against Wigan where we looked a different side with 2 strikers on
TodwickOwl
We setup exactly like we did against Hull - not to lose with 1 up top. And that was an awful game
sMacLean
Should have started FF, Joao and Matias. If we went behind by 2 then shut up shop fine. Agnew got shown up there as an assistant not a manager.
agentwalker
Just felt like Agnew opened the draws in the manager's office and found Josh's tactics board and thought, yep I like like a plan.

Owl Be Back
I don't think the setup at the start was wrong - keep it tight and see where you are at half time; however the changes should have been made at half time to try and take Chelsea by surprise and nick something. Then with momentum on your side, anything can happen. Waiting to make those changes after the game was lost was just rubbish decision making from Agnew. Can't fault the players' effort for the most part but the lack of attacking options really meant there was only ever going to be one outcome. We should have had a go from half time onwards and at least try and get their keeper's shirt mucky.
