The Star: Boyd's Turnaround

Recommended Posts

Not using this as a stick to beat a dead horse, but as well as Hutch and Westwood, it's another highlight of what was going massively wrong with the old boss.

I think the vast majority of us thought Boyd's time here was well and truly over, but fair play to him for taking the chance Bullen gave him with both hands. He's been great since coming back in, and it just shows what a bit of faith and confidence can do.

It does sound like the new coaching staff are quite keen on Boyd too, could be like a new signing in the second half of the season.

It's definitely looking better than it was a few weeks ago.

Quote

Agnew, who worked with Boyd at Hull City, told The Star: "It has been difficult for George as he has not played for the majority of the season. He has come in at a difficult time through the Christmas period.

"But he is a fit boy, he works up and down and is a fantastic professional. He has got a goal in him. He will only get better. "We have worked with George before. We know what he is.

"As the weeks go by and the games come along, George will, for me, start to score goals and have more of an impact on the games."

Looks like he's running through mud at times, but still probably covers more ground than anybody else.

Real work horse, but as is the case with a lot of players we've had over the years, I wish we could have had him when he was 25 rather than coming to the end of his career.

Not been blown away by his performances, but he's been steady and contributed to some good team performances. Does a lot of work off the ball and deserves to keep his place at the moment, hopefully  with more minutes the pitch  becomes more effective on the ball.

A nothing story from the star though, rehashing the pre Luton press conference into a series of pointless stories to fill space.

would love to know what the heck really happened with Jos sidelining these players

cannot understand why DC paying through the nose for so many players that Jos wouldnt play,  didnt have him in the office and say WTF is going on?

Jumping the gun to say his situation has turned around, but things look more encouraging for him - for the rest of this season anyway.

Pretty certain that anything in the star is a 'nothing story' lol

It's almost as if a good number of the Owlstalk posts are made in ignorance of what a player has done before isn't it?

The same morons are convinced that Dave Jones has never been a player despite his record prior to joining Wednesday.

Probably the same mindset that leads to this obsession with signing former loanees.

Boyd came back into the side after injury last season shortly after Jos had been appointed and between then and the end of the season did well. I can’t understand why he was frozen out this? That said Lukuhay hit on a useful formula in the run-in last season and bizarrely discarded it this so strange decisions were par for the course with him
