I'm pretty sure that's not right, but have no way of explaining why.

Link for the 3rd round draw below. The order of fixtures corresponds with the numbers in the draw tonight

It still bothers me that their keeper didn't get a red card...even thought we ended up winning. lol

Dredging this up from memory, but it could have been Giles de Bilde who was brought down.

So @Birley Owl 1867 seeing as you've negged that for no apparent reason who do you think were the last top flight team we beat in the FA Cup when we were below it?

We haven't even won an FA Cup game against a PL team since the pigs in 93.

Fulham, 2nd January 2016

Apologies, we played them in the cup and beat them the week after, could have sworn they were premier-league then

It is a sign.

In 91 we played Chelsea away in the cup.

Got promoted and won the cup.

Nostradamus has spoken.

What a day out that was apart from when Chelsea Headhunters decided to brick the Intercity Owls coaches as we left the stadium.

Not happy campers that a Div 2 team had literally outclassed them from start to finish.

What no one knew at the time was that our team would be good enough to finish 3rd following season in Div 1.

Damn yeah, a big loss losing Hector if we get through Luton. A great game for Bruce to get his teeth into though and a run out for all our new big signings.

Hector will be perm by then (purlease make it happen)

They were Championship, we beat them in the league one week and the Cup the next.

Why does this feel like the Charlton game where victory would have meant playing the pigs

Yes! Was unbelievable he didn’t go.

Maybe ref was ahead of his time and implemented the ‘double jeopardy’ rule 20 years early.

Weren't West Ham PL when we had a late winner (O'Grady?) at Hillsborough?

More i think of it, Chelsea away should be doable at least at these early stages of the FA cup. Chelsea won't field their first XI but rather save some for league action like Liverpool did yesterday.

Mind you, Chelsea reserves will still be tough but provided we beat Luton, I'm picturing a match a bit like away to Newcastle last time.. when we beat them and then Arsenal ;)

COME ON Brucey's Boys, make it happen!!

The potential Chelsea match is a bit depressing. We used to play them on a regular basis. Proper games with proper crowds & away days. Now look at the chasm between us both.

Having said that, the first leg of the cup semi away on that Sunday morning was like being in a morgue. It was more lively in the cemetery behind their big old stand.

:duntmatter:
