Why was Hutch not rested

This is all great in retrospect, but everybody I spoke to before the game was happy that we were starting a 'strong' side. A new management team obviously need to see the supposed first team line up.

This.

Sure Brucie will identify the weak links quickly and move them on.

Starting with the Fullbacks.

Not having a go but why was Hutch not rested today. It was his third start after not playing for a good while and it is well known that his fitness needs to be managed. All a good opportunity given we were playing lower league opposition in the cup. Thought it before the game and then he goes and gets injury. Why do we not learn this lesson? We often over players they need a rest and there is the opportunity to give them one. I don‘t understand...

We need to be pro-active with managing certain players rather than waiting until they feel something - when arguably it‘s too late.

the new 'regime' will need to know 'the effectiveness' of each and every player, who CAN turn out for 4 games on the trot, and who's on the 'francis jeffers' treatment table more oft..

thank god someone's moving us in a 'professional' direction.

There's always going to be that risk he breaks down at some point, whether you rest him a bit or play him in two to three games in succession.

He's a very good player, but he's also injury prone...

Big decision to be made on him in the summer (He's out of contract?), as I would imagine he's on a tidy sum.

In an ideal world, he's a player you'd want to build a new side around.

We all know Hutchinsons issues.

If he didn't have them he wouldn't be playing Championship football.

If we want to keep him around for the qualities he has we have to be accepting of those issues.

Whether Bruce and Co will be accepting if them is another matter.

I do know that a player doing a similar job would not be cheap.

Think we need one. Pelupessy can't do the job the same way Hutchinson can. It's not his game.

That maybe Bruce's first priority a defensive midfielder.
