Kop

Recommended Posts

Another example of DC and KM not really being football people (yet). Much still to learn and more listening to be done Assuming one of them sanctioned the Kop closure of course

The ends should be the last area to close. Players respond to the vibe of the crowd behind the goal when taking and defending set plays and to the noise generated by shots and near misses.

Luton were lifted by attacking and defending that excellent following.

At the end of the day the best END of the ground is the Lepps. Ok so its not as big as the kop but it has a better view on the upper tier and kicks off a better atmosphere because of the low roof. Shoud never have been the away end. Away fans should have a section of the South stand lower tier lepps side. I remember the olden days playing away 70's thru 80's when we were always allocated an open non atmospheric end giving advantage to the home team. So what did we do at Home, we gave em the lepps. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I may be a little simple here, but this methodology has been in place since before Mr Chansiri has been in governance, surely?

Maybe things are just as the status quo - someone should bring this to the attention of DC so he can affect change in future?

Give it a rest.

This thread has nothing to do with Megson.

Because all the other times Megson is mentioned in a thread it actually makes sense...

IIRC closing Kop for early rounds of the Cups is nothing new and goes back to before Chansiri time.

Hillsboroughs atmosphere is rarely anything other than poor anyway, Kop or no Kop

The atmosphere is good to great at some games when we're playing well and winning and not so good when we're losing. It's not rocket science, never been any different.

Do you go to away games?

This would help you appreciate Hillsborough a little more as some home crowds are dire apart from the usually terrific noise from the Wednesday end.

No just replying to someone who posted that it was during Chansiris time closing the Kop for early round cup games started.

In 2014 against nott's county North stand was closed while the kop was open. Same in 2015 Vs Mansfield

What is wrong with the world when you're not allowed to drink a pint at your seat but someone is allowed to wear a top hat that big

Makes perfect sense really. North stand gives a better view and the attenendance meant that you could fit all the fans in the north and south.

Why open the kop when you can do that? It's not free you know  opening one less stand means no need for ticket turnstiles to be open, no need for stewards, police or catering staff. It's actually a good decision by the chairman.
