IWEDFM
No problem with him starting in Feb, perfectly understandable considering the year he had Football is a massive part of our lives but it isn't everything Good on Bruce for putting family first
Swiss Toni
Can't fault that in all fairness. If we get a fresher Steve Bruce on Feb 1st because of it then all the better. Kind of puts a lot into perspective when you consider how 2018 panned out for the guy.
theowlsman
Some people felt no need to question the motives though, simply understanding that “personal matters” are just that.

pgmetcalf
And here's me thinking he had been abducted by aliens and had lunch on the moon with Jesus etc. It amazes me that some people just can't accept that he's not starting until February and always look for reasons and excuses
Carbone
So the reason is because of the clause with Villa then? Nice of him to be able to spend this time with his wife, but why are some saying that’s the reason when it’s been revealed he actually can’t go back in yet and it’s not by choice

Eightace
We need a long term plan. We need to build success instead of trying to buy it. If Bruce is the right man I can wait.

F. Spiksley
Fair play to him. Now I know, that's a very reasonable thing.
Salmonbones
This is what i'd call a win/win/win situation. Bruce gets to keep his promise to his wife, which puts him in the right frame of mind to get back to work. Clearly he wasn't firing on all cylinders towards the end at Villa. We don't appoint a half way measure, waiting gets us a good manager for next season instead of yet another nearly man. Jos and CC were left field and I can sort of understand the reasoning but that reasoning failed so it's time to go to tried and tested. Finally, it stops pressure this season on Bruce. Foundations will have been laid for his arrival by Agnew and by starting in February, it gets rid of unduly high expectation, he gets far more than a pre-season to assess and start to put plans into motion. Imagine him in charge yesterday, some people would already be questioning him (ok, our fans aren't THAT fickle, but a few games in definitely)

Silkstone Owl
Slightly ridiculous that this has to be released really. Bruce cited ‘personal’ reasons - that detail is enough for me. Bruce is a human being - so what if he wants another month off before coming here....worlds hardly going to end is it!?
LiamAP22D
I think he will do a decent job, hope it's worth the wait but wouldn't expect to see us playing like his team in till next season now.
