What has happened to Penney?

He has talent, but let's face it...he only got a game because Pudil's legs have gone and Fox was playing utter rubbish. Same goes for Baker really; Hunt sold and Palmer is nothing special.

He'll be a very good pro but needs to work on the mental side for me.

His first games he looked like he didn't care about the crowd which meant he played his own game. The last few you could see he heard every moan and B

Groan and he didn't want the ball.

Managed well he will be great.

You could always ask him. He posts under @Slogboy

Hate how we are so dismissive of our own youth talent.

He’s a great prospect who fell victim to the bizarre management of Jos. I think under Jos he played left back, wing back, centre midfield and left forward. He’s a young lad and shouldn’t have been messed about so much.

I think he’ll have a very good career in football.

Exactly, no wonder most of our young talent go elsewhere. Who can blame them

Go elsewhere and do what?  Where are the success stories of players who came up through our academy in the last 20 years?

The ones who move elsewhere early on either move sideways and eventually trickle down the leagues, or just go into obscurity

He's been dropped.

He played well when he first come in, signed his contract and then was poor.

Don't get what all the hype is about, not ready for championship.

Fox is getting better, so why should he get back in the starting team.

Think he will play Saturday though.

And the circle turns again.

I hope that the fans do not fall into the "Let's buy success" ballcocks again, looking for a short cut and ignoring our own young players.

PLEASE no more 28 - 30 yr olds acting as bed blockers.

I think he’s a great prospect. Him and Thorniley.

Should be played and reintroduced to a confident winning side.

Penney has a great engine too - very athletic.

Both full-back positions are up for grabs. At the moment, Fox & Palmer are earning their shirts. Penney's time will come again. I agree with one of the previous posts...Penney has been moved about in the side too much given it's his breakthrough season. Bruce needs to establish his best position and bed him in.

Emerging players like penney should always be introduced to the first team gradually. He did well when he came in when things were going well but didnt have the experience to turn things round when things weren’t. Penney is still a great prospect and in a year or two could be a top championship defender but we really need a 1st  choice LB so penney can learn the role and develop.

Him? As in garymegson?

He was playing ok with confidence until he got messed around by Jos who shifted him to a nonsense position.

His confidence was then shot and the crowd turned on him.

He is obviously good enough going forward to play the full back role but needs to improve defensively/physically which is why wing back suited him
