optimisticowl
The thing is that success and failure have one thing in common, this being that they often arrive when least expected. We accept the former as a bonus and the latter as bad fortune, nowt we can do about either, but a season in the sun would be nice.

I've heard he's lumped £100k on a play off finish. Keep that last one quiet or he'll be in trouble for breaking betting guidelines. We don't want to be going back there again! S36 OWL
If DC went for it , we would suffer severe pain and punishment if we failed to get promoted and out of the reach of the EFL.. They would nail us to the floor .
Carbone
He already “went for it” but it was half-hearted unfortunately. Wolves went for it properly and it paid off. We made some big signings in his first two seasons but we didn’t really go for it, Rhodes being the main transfer that just wasn’t what we needed. We needed to spend £8m on a few players to seriously go for it in positions we needed (LB,CB,CM and a pacey forward)

Its not impossible but would be a momentous task. Is it worth a gamble and what would be the outcome if it fails? Interesting times ahead!! The points difference is too big to be able to have a go at it this season. More than likely tbe players Bruce wants will be loan players, so not costing a great deal. Then we will look to have a good go next season with possibly a much changed side
striker
Don't think loan players would break the bank FFP wise. If we went out and signed 3 players for millions, then could expect some attention from EFL. FFP as it is, is testicles anyway and presume at least a few will keep tabs on Birmingham's punishment, or lack of before completely ignoring it. Nut
Why go sh#t or bust when we're 11 points off the play offs? It would make no sense and could put us in financial trouble for years to come. Then again, why stick with Jos for so long when he had no idea and had fallen out with half the team? Worrying times.
Ever the pessimist
Nixon was intimating that DC still sees promotion as a possibility and that no-one is leaving. Have to admit that sounds concerning. Also heard we turned down an offer for Joao yesterday.
bigash_swfc
Options at this stage... Selling players. Selling the stadium. Selling a percentage of the club. Chansiri won't sell any of his favourite players it seems.
Inspector Lestrade
Let's go for it buy the best we can, with a couple of bad boys always in the press for boozing and whatever they get up to nowadays. Go for the front page instead of the back page, the investors will flood in.

Hence QPR, Bournemouth, Leicester got away with breaching the limits because promotion took them out of the reach of the EFL. The rules have changed and it is now a forward looking process. If we blatantly disregard the rules and go sh!t or bust and "get promotion" we might well get a points deduction to take us down to 7th or lower. My understanding is the same as yours, if a club finishes in the top 2 by busting P&S the EFL can deduct points & force them to compete in the playoffs, similarly if a club busting P&S has finished in the playoffs then they can be demoted to a position outside the play offs. Even more scary a team busting P&S but finishing just above the bottom 3 could end up relegated.

IF he was gambling on Bruce pulling off a miracle (assuming it is Bruce), he would have wanted him in the club immediately, not waiting till the end of January - thus missing several matches and the transfer window.
