What a strange career he has had...

Some interesting posts about this guy in the chesterfield thread

I can only imagine.

Always found it odd how he went back to working with Uncle Dave after their time at S6.

Nice guy, big SWFC fan, didn't work out for him as a manager here but he did bring in a few great players.

Didnt he also give his job up to try and form a consortium to take us over.

Personally I wish him only the best getting further work.

Have heard we are lining him up to replace Westwood. Westwood is going to Leeds by the way. Which I why he didn't play yesterday, Not because he took a knock. They are lying. A bloke in the pub told me. FACT! (Hence the capitals)

Was it Chris Turner that told Paul Sturrock Kaven Walker was talking behind his back ? Which resulted in Allen sacking Sturrock ?

Just had a look, can’t reallt fault what he’s claiming. Definitely better upstairs than down in the dugout. Not many clubs make profit and compete these days. Good luck to him

Made a brilliant safe in 91 that made sure I had my best day of being a Wednesday fan that's what he should be remembered for not his stint as manager

And he is the best example of never letting a legend of the club manage it

Didn't he sign Beswetherick?

:carlosswfc:

And Barry Murphy (when he had 2 ears)

:carlosswfc:

And promoted Chris Carr to the first team, scoring that superb scissor kick own goal to give QPR promotion

:carlosswfc:

And make Ola Tidman the number 1 keeper

:carlosswfc:

And sign Dean Smith

He also signed Whelan, Brunt and Patrick Collins. Had an eye for a player.

The majority of the 2005 play off team were his signings

Route One: Poor player recruitment = fail

  • Route One: Poor player recruitment = failure on the pitch = poor ticket sales = reduced corporate sales = reduced sponsorships = reduced revenue streams

Foresight over astonishment Chris I'm impressed !

Route One: Poor player recruitment = failure on the pitch = poor ticket sales = reduced corporate sales = reduced sponsorships = reduced revenue streams

Route Two: Successful player recruitment = success on the pitch = increased ticket sales = larger crowds = increased corporate sales = increased sponsorship = growing revenue streams

I have a deep seated dislike for David Pleat that is unmatched by any other manager in my lifetime.

I agree. It sounds daft as we were in the top division, but for me Pleat was the worst and had the most negative impact, and I liked him least of all Wednesday managers - until Jos, who surpased him!
