GMOwl72
Let’s concentrate on getting back to winning ways with some positive performances. If we can do this and consolidate then next year will provide the opportunity to progress.

It will certainly be very Hard work and will require more than a little good Luck, but a top six spot is still achievable. Far too many Negative Nigels on Owlstalk. And while we're at it , too many moaning Minnies, too ! Come on Wednesday !!!!!!!!

On this day in 2015, Brighton were 4th on 44 points. They finished 3rd so not so much of a charge.

Yes mate that same season. They started unbeaten and were top of the league in October. Terrible start that. 1
Mr. Chow
Hmm fair enough assumed there was a team who was on a bad run in the first half of a season and made the playoffs later that sesson, same year we made them or was it the year Bournemouth went up?? Derby finished on 75 last year, and they’re in there now on 39. 22 games to go - if 75 will do it, we need 15 wins, with 7 games to spare/drop points against. We need to start going out now for the wins, nothing to lose here - all the players to come back in Jan and push ahead. No draws - they’re useless, all in for the wins. The games in Jan and Feb are ‘kind’ to say the least - we could hit some form here and then go like a train. 75/78 points I reckon is required. Now, I’m off to pour another vodka. Better make it a double!

The team to look at emulating is Fulham last year. They finished 3rd after having 35pts on boxing day. Almost undefeated after then with 16 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat. Beighton Owl 87
It's not completely out of the question if you look at our run of fixtures. I reckon we could be within 5 points off the top 6 after blunts game in March.
apswfcowl
What we really need to know is the average number of points achieved by the team finishing 7th and aim for one more. Not gonna happen tho'
Ronio
Nothing wrong with aiming high. 9 points away and we are still within reach imo. Tough game away to West Brom followed by a nice run of fixtures in January and February.

I thin you may be on about Fulham who started 2017 and 2018 well outside top half and finished in playoffs. Helped in 2017 by the funniest bottle job of all time from Leeds. 1
bradowl
This time last week we was looking in serious trouble, 2 wins and everything is more positive amongst fans. 6 wins and 2 draws from remaining 22 games puts us on that magic 50 point mark. We've no chance of making play offs but 60 points is achievable which would probably mean a top 10 finish.

Guest Hirst1867
I got 100-1 on a top 6 finish after Jos got sacked I put £10 on What if Chansiri did the same? With £10m?? That would give us £1000m to spend next season, even if we didn't get promoted. I can live with this plan

It would be one of the best seasons ever if we do manage it though, but realistically I would be happy with top 10 now

I will concede that it's unlikely, but mathematically it's still doable. We won't go down so we may as well go for it and see what happens.
