They'd be all over it to ensure a player did not miss a court date and had optimal legal representation Pretty shameful the amount of adverse publicity that it's generated for Forestieri when he's done nothing wrong Also pretty telling that some people cannot hold their hands up and admit they jumped the gun and have been proven wrong Totally agree. Some people made real ***** of themselves, slagging FF off, with no evidence. Be nice if they were big enough to admit they were wrong

SiJ
Tbf, I think Nando should get some sort of an apology. Last night he was "trending" on Twitter and splashed across mainstream media outlets for having missed a Court date. Some questions should be asked as to how/why this was leaked to The Star and others.

Added to him being labelled a cheat (unjustifiably ) from the ‘diving’ episodes now being (unjustifiably) labelled a racist for not turning up for court he will be wound up and hounded by opposition players and fans ... unjustifiably! Not impressed with Mansfield Magistrate Court if they didnt inform FF of the court date. My guess is they posted it out and got lost somewhere. The Star reported the facts as they were known at the time. He had a court date and he didn’t attend. The reasons why weren’t known. We now know that he wasn’t aware of it, but we don’t know the reason(s) why. It also isn’t the job of the court to inform FF of the court date - the time, date and place would be printed on the summons, which is issued by the police. It’s looking like he didn’t get the summons 10 hours ago, daveyboy66 said: My guess is that you haven't seen the CPS in action The court and the CPS are two separate and independent organisations. 10 hours ago, pgmetcalf said: I would, they published a story without knowing all the facts and probably did so just to get a reaction See above - they published the facts that were known and correct at the time. latemodelchild
As of 7.35am today sky news website still reporting there's a warrant out and no mention of the club statement. Not checked if the star have updated their piece.

Guest mkowl
So the Courts can't get the paperwork right but can manage to tip off the local rag without a problem.

Seems that way. The story has come from someone and I don't recall seeing random stories about people missing court dates in the news that often. Whoever tipped em off has caused hassle for FF and made the courts look silly. Good work all round.

The authorities do like to get publicity from known people to set an example to the population at large. HMRC love a celebrity tax avoidance case and naming and shaming is part of the ethos of ensuring compliance. So it doesn't surprise me in the slightest but they should have checked the paperwork first because they now look fools. But yep I watch enough of these police documentaries to wait the end bit where it states the person failed to show up at court Edited December 30, 2018 by mkowl

casbahowl
Brings up another interesting point regarding Owlstalk itself and it’s standing in the rank and file SWFC fans eyes. A gang of us have both home and away season tickets and have done for years. Through this affiliation we come into contact on a daily/weekly basis with other likeminded Wednesdayite’s and over the last couple of seasons the way Owlstalk has degenerated from being the fresh approach of communication between Wednesdyites to the hate filled cyber toy it is today has been a regular talking point. The anger and even hatred towards this site and some of it’s posters was palpable yesterday and it’s not just a one off. OT represents about 5% of our fan base with an increasing amount of that 5% posting constant negative bile. All the reasons that made OT one of the best forums around have been lost. OT unfortunately has become a parody of itself. It’s successor can’t be far away, shame really Edited December 30, 2018 by casbahowl

It's a shame because this site used to be so much fun even in the darkest days.
