Sell Reach, and while we're at it, sell FF, BB, KW, and Joao.. That will let us buy some more crap and probably let us win a few League 1 Matches..

This is typical Wednesdayite thinking AT ALL TIMES.  Buy a player relatively cheaply by today's prices, get him fully fit, up and running, scoring freely, making himself almost a match winner on his own, and almost indispensible. THEN SELL HIM irrespective of FFP or such.

Its the Wednesday way.

All clubs do this, I’d argue Wednesday don’t do it enough, players values are up and down all the time dependant on the form they’re in. Selling a player when their stock is high is just good business, because inevitably their value will drop. We should have sold forestieri 18 months ago when he was flying. Reported 8 figure bids were coming in which we turned down. And since then he’s been constantly in and out of the side through injury and his form has dried up, probably costing us millions

Pathetic how people are constantly clamouring to sell our best players. Huddersfiield ffs.

We need to sell them to meet FFP requirements as specified by Premier Dejphon. £20m for Reach clears our worries and would free up funds for new players.

New players nowhere near as good as the ones we have. Now what would that achieve on the football field?

What players are nowhere near as good as what we have? We haven't signed anyone. No need to be so negative.

I'm  just applying the logic that says you get what you pay for. To improve on Reach we would have to spend more than we received for him, so unless we did that the team would be weakened.

So what do you suggest when he declines a new contract and leaves for nothing? Obviously in an ideal world our best players will stay, but football isn’t like that. The club has to spot when we can make the best return on players and use the funds to reinvest/keep us out of an FFP embargo.

It’s not though is it?

We’re in the mess we are because we haven’t sold any players.

Listen to offers for anybody.

Sell for any that are decent.

Let's recoup some of the daft money spent from someone else spending daft money and then take the opportunity to ease some of the financial pressure and bring in some positive, winning mentality.

Freeze season ticket prices, show some ambition and chuck a bit at some feelgood PR to build some bridges - 4 or 5 cheap POTG offers, one kid, one free, pensioners day with free pie and Bovril and not forgetting a Couples Masturbation Matchday Special on The Kop for Valentines Day with complimentary club crest embossed wetwipes.  They'll be coming in droves.

Not really. To get Reach we didn’t have to spend more than we might get for him so we wouldn’t necessarily have to spend more to replace him. That’s what championships clubs often need to do. Buy low, sell high, replace lower.

This and sonofbert2

Reach has come on leaps and bounds as a player... yes he still neshes challenges but he is a clever footballer and will suit the prem... actually maybe he neshes challenges to never get injured because he is clever.

Don't think he has ever missed a game for us thru injury.

Sell when his stock has value... hate to say it but the Derby model is the way to go. Sell the likes of Vydra.

Similar to Leeds selling Wood.

We should have sold Tom Lees when Burnley came asking.

Venancio could have done the job for us at 20% of the price.

With that kind of attitude Liverpool wouldn’t have the team they have now. They have consistently sold their best player for huge profits for the last few years in a row. If you think that the transfer policy of championship Sheff Wednesday which has been sign everyone and sell no one is sustainable however then great, it’s served us well over the last 3 years hasn’t it?

Some people are living in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

The only way to consistently mount a promotion challenge is to sell your best players at the right time for the right price.

7 goals before January, you have to feel that Reach is about at the peak value he can possibly get to in the Championship.  If we get an offer of £12-£15m we must learn from our previous mistakes and sell him.

We should be able to make the squad far better overall for that.

If Leeds see Westwood as their guarantee to the PL and offer us £2m+ for a 34 year old with 6 months on his contract, we should sell him too.

We have so many strikers, we should also sell Joao or FF if we get fair offers.

The thing about selling Reach is that it’s equivalent to losing two “normal” players.

Look at the amount of game time we get out of the four outfield players mentioned in this thread as our possible FFP saviours.

Since start of 17/18 season:-

Reach 6755 minutes = equivalent to 75 full 90 minute matches.

Bannan 4600 minutes = 51 full matches

Joao 2920 minutes = 32 full matches

Forestieri 1413 minutes = 16 full matches

Whatever fee we get for Reach we need to take into account his freakish fitness/injury record which sees him play as often as two normal squad members.

He is hard to replace in so many ways.

if we could just clone Lucas with a bit of Fletcher;s grit and determination we could have a really valuable player for us. It only takes the right coach to get these attributes instilled into him.

Only question for me id, "does he have the right coaching here >
