Let's assume it's Steve Bruce, happy with that?

Sorry but that is wrong. Paul Jewell came to us having had success with Bradford City. After leaving us he went to Wigan and took them to the EPL. At that particular time the manager(s) weren't the problem, the clubs finances were.

Also let's remember that Jewell's final game in charge of Wigan relegated the Blunts!

Fair point about Jewel but I wouldn't have trusted him with DC's war chest.

S36 owl.. jokanovic or Pearson for me.

and I wouldn’t give it to Bullen either. Part of the problem in my eyes. Doesn’t have a clue. Great bloke, brill for the club but not in a managerial role for me yet.

They couldnt afford me. lol

Bruce  F#cked up at Villa, so why not give him another chance here eh ?

If he falls off the managerial merry-go-round and ends up at Hillsbrough it may work but he'll have sod all to spend.

Lee Bullen deserves more time doesn't he ?

Looks like we are becoming a club that specialises in the last chance saloon for managers.. how many ex managers are actually in work.

They were in the playoff final, nearly went bust. They spent millions and didn’t get up. Biggest wage bill in the division. Only because of a takeover they are where they are now.

I suppose in a managers shoes, if your boss says, which are the best players and I’ll get them for you, you make the most of that. Or in most cases they set out a list of targets from first to least and it’s then over to someone else to do a deal. Whilst I think it’s a good trait if a manager enquires about the finance, it’s ultimately the responsibility of those above to make sure it fits.

They can only work within the parameters set for them. Wilder makes out it is his choice to be frugal but he clearly hates it.

Apologies if I missed the point of your post btw

If a club overspends surely it's the fault of the owner and or CEO, why is the manager to blame?

It's the job of the owner and CEO to look after the financial side of things, the manager's job is to ensure the player's do their job on the pitch.

Only time will tell how decent or not his budget will be but I trust Bruce to recruit well more often than not. With his track record of promotions from this league that tells you his recruiting skills are good particularly at this level.

Exactly the sort of manager we needed after Carlos, I’m willing to move on from this Jos fiasco, but lessons must be learnt, it’s a club, not a one man band, we win lose and draw together, don’t isolate yourself for failure.

I think Bruce demands respect and can control big personalities. I think we lack a bit of character so hopefully he brings in a couple, is allowed to pick from the whole squad and we can kick on and hopefully finish above the scrubbers down the road. Our previous manager couldnt manage a cat.

I'd be more than happy.

The best two candidates are Bruce and Jovankovic, but I'm not sure Jovankovic he'd come and as an attacking manager would he sort the defence out.

It also shows the chairmen moving in a different direction. Not sure his 'advisors' would have recommended Bruce as he's not one of their clients!
