I do think your average German player is smarter and has a better work ethic and is capable of collectively making decisions for themselves during the game if not going to plan. Bruce's time at Villa wasn't a roaring success, despite getting them to a playoff final, but he's an experienced manager who is surely far better equipped to deal with the demands of this division than almost any other realistic target we might be considering.
