Villa have a top two squad or at the very least a squad capable of finishing in the top two. Bruce was playing a way that when it worked it was fine but when it wasn't there was no plan B. He (similarly to Luhukay) was saying the same things over and over again without changing anything bar the players in the side. If you were the chairman you would try and minimise a caretaker manager scenario. So, this leads me to believe Bruce was in contact with the club weeks before Jos was sacked.
