He is young has played over 100 games at championship level for Wolves and Ipswich when playing regularly with wolves he made it into the England under 21's team. He is 6ft 4" so is a threat in both boxes and can play both full back and wing back. As our current manager like to change game to game a player as versatile as him would be advantages and isa an improvement of what we currently have.

Oh and based on the fact we have no money he is a free agent in the summer.

But don't let any of that worry you we will have no right sided defenders with your plan so we will have to take anyone. :picnic:

It is one of those things a new manager comes in wants his own players and other get pushed out. We as a club should understand that better than most.

Venancio under Carlos not deemed good enough - Under Jos was one of the best players of the season.

Westwood, Hutch main stays of our team under Carlos - not deemed good enough by Jos.

Iorfa has over 100 championship appearance is a good age and physically a beast at 6ft 2", can play both full back and wing back and is an improvement on what we currently have, if we are shopping in the free agents market he would be a good addition in the summer if not get him on loan in January. There is a lot of Championship and league one interest in him and also rangers in Scotland

He is also currently playing in a back 3 on the right side which again would fit right into our team, has played all season for the under 23's so probably fitted than half our team.

I’m not sure I fancy this Iorfa character. His height has shrunk by 2 inches just while I’ve been reading this thread.

Come January sell Reach and Bannan for hopefully close to £20m (Reach £12m + add ons, Bannan £8m), bring in Nick Powell as replacement for Bannan is a free agent in the summer but in January may cost £2m don't need to replace Reach as Fessi plays wide left.

Finance issues at the club sorted, we could maybe get rid of a few of the contracts in January paid up such as Abdi, Jones, Boyd then start next season with a virtual clean slate.

Trouble is, Reach plays 44 full games, FF plays an average of 12.

Who plays there the other 36 matches?

It baffles me when people post “build a team round FF”. It’s like saying build it around Lee or Hooper, or Hutch or Fletcher.

We have two current players you can “build a team around” (hate this phrase) - Reach and Bannan. The only two healthy enough and good enough to play Week in week out. The other stars are bit players who need managing with the deft skills of a medic and fortune-teller.

To be honest , I'd offer one year extensions to the three young lads and bin the rest, but try and sign Hector on a permanent deal.

This summer we have a chance to start again and rebuild for the future with younger,  hungry players on their way up in the game  . A chance to build a squad that can develop together for years to come.

We cannot afford to get it wrong.

The next 18 months are going to be painful, 19/20 next season could be a real struggle

We have to hope players stay injury free and try and play a similar 11 every week

Somthing along the lines of

                                       Dawson

     Baker.              Lees.           Thorniley.           Penney

                     Pelupessy.            Kirby

        Joao.                 Winnall.                 Forestieri

                                  Fletcher

I expect Bannan & Reach to be sold raising £15 million

Hutch paid up and released

The rest all released who’s contracts are up

Going to be painful to watch

Barry Bannan is an good midfielder for us his goal to game ration that for a creative midfielder is league 2 level. He simply does not score enough goals to be classed in the same sentence as any of our great central midfielders of yester years if there is a team out their in Villa who want to pay £8m for him then for me sell him. There are better alternative around that will create chances and also score goal. One such example is Nick Powell at Wigan a goal every 3 games and the heart beat of their team but out of Contract in the summer, better club than us are interested but we could swoop in and get him, using some of the funds if we were to accept a bid for Bannan.

This season we have wasted Bannan due to Pelupessy not being good enough for this level of football Bannan has got deeper and deeper and less and less effective, at the start of the season he was one of the best in the league and scoring goals the last 6-8 games you barely notice him in games. This season is his best scoring season in his career with 4 goals kind of says it all really.

As for Reach I really like him as a player but we are in the financial poo caused by having a chairman devoid of any clues how to run a football club. Simple put we don't have a choice if some one offers decent money for Reach, Bannan, Fessi, Lees or any of the players we seriously need to look at taking it.

If not we could be under a transfer embargo every season for the next few season.

Which is why the first one out of the door should be the manager. We need someone who knows what they are doing to rebuild this side.

Matias has spent 2 years years injured then this season playing for a new deal 11 appearance and for chunks of the games he does actually play its like only have 10 men on the pitch and Hooper has cost us nearly £2m since he last made a first team appearance.

We get rid of Palmer we have only Baker who is not first team ready yet as cover,I do not understand fans of our club we have no money, we will be under another transfer embargo next season unless we get money in selling players in January and we release a good championship full back and replace him with a kid who has shown in his last few games he is not ready yet.

I give up.

One or two injured and we have a relegation team their, Baker is not ready, Lees is not a leading and playing in a defense with 3 kids will be a disaster waiting to happen, I think you are being very optimistic with Kirkby as he is no where near the first team and needs a season or two in league 1/2 to see if he has it about him. Fessi will be out of contract summer 2020 so next season won't be allowed to play as will Fletcher. So we are billing a team for one season not exactly looking to the future.

If Reach and Bannan go so sort the financial mess out then of the £20m for the two at least £5m of it needs re investing in the squad    £2m for Nick Powell (Wigan), £1m for Chris Gunter (Reading), Josh Vela (Bolton) £500k, Ryan Tunnicliffe £500k. All these players will be out of contract in the summer 2019 except Gunter who is 2020. If Bannan/Reach go we get two new central midfielders a right back and an attack minded forward in Powell. Shift fessi to the left and we finish the season strongly who knows but next season we start with a stronger starting 11 that this season.

Why the manager? He hasnt been allowed to recruit yet, no idea what will happen if he actually gets some of his own players. He is starting to rebuild financially for next season already, just not with incoming players yet as not allowed.

For me everyone barring the youngsters has a price and so take it. Sell as many as possible and bring in some strong willed uncompromising leaders capeble of digging in and allowing us to rebuild from scratch, Dawson will be far better protected (we'll if jos picks a settled back whatever).

Baker has shown promise, but needs a leader at cb alongside him to Marshall him and help him through games.

Thornily was becoming  without doubt the shining light this season, well until jos decided to unceremoniously drop him and we coincidentally hit free fall back down to earth.

Penney needs playing alongside thornily in his natural and preferred position as an attacking lb/wb, so in short get a few million in for Lees and bring in a new version of loovens for now capeble of galvanising them as a back four and aiding in there development.

I know selling lees won't go down well with some, but he's been getting gradually worse and less consistent over the past 2 seasons.

Hooper is one of those awkward ones like Nando, just doesn't contribute with enough minutes on the pitch.

If fit he's deadly and easily walks into the team, it's just he isn't and is only going to deteriorate with age.
