15 Championship Clubs want more from Sky Deal.

Fans wanting football to be allowed to shovel more cash into players and agents pockets

Madness

This is where the big problem exists. Many of us can't believe the wages and fees that are paid these days but at the same time plenty want to see their own club go out and invest in the best players.

If the vast amount of the money went towards players and facilities then it wouldn't be so much of an issue but the fact more and more money is lost to the game to agents who have a vested interest in moving players on to generate more income for themselves then fans will understandably become more cynical about the game as a whole.

Sky money has helped to develop certain aspects of the sport but the weak governing bodies afford them and other TV companies too much power and influence in terms of dictating kick-off times and which teams are shown, the tail has been wagging the dog in that respect for a long time.

What should have been adopted years ago is the Nascar rule - every club gets the same money to spend, how they spend it is their choice, go over and they are automatically relegated.

The better run clubs will always succeed or those who invest wisely.

The current system is the rich get richer and the rest can sod off.

I think a lot of the issues comes from the lack of spines in both the FA and the EFL, if they actually tried to do the best for their members and not to further their personal agenda's we might actually move forward but no the rich get richer and the rest get to lump it.

If you look at the figures. the difference between what sky give prem clubs, compared to what they give champ clubs is way too big.

especially when taking into account the fact that you go from 1 of them leagues straight into the other! its not as if they are ten leagues apart forFS.

L2 clubs get £492k

L1 clubs get £708K          (nearly double that of L2)

Champ get £2.3m            (triple that of L1)

bottom of prem well over £100M  ...... all of a sudden a jump to more than 50 times bigger!

its a wonder the 3 relegated clubs dont go straight back up every year... soon they will.

Im glad the 15 champ clubs are making a stand.

I don't agree.

Sky hand over huge amounts of money to the Premier League, and a separate huge amount under a separate contract to the EFL.

It's the clubs who waste the money, not Sky.

These 15 greedy clubs (which probably includes us), don't give a t0ss about your Doncasters, Forest Greens, Cheltenham's and Accringtons.

& likewise the prem dont give a t0$$ about the champ clubs.. lets be honest every club only care about themselves.

but when big clubs in the champ (owls leeds forest etc etc) are struggling to get back up, struggling to compete with your Bournmouths and Burnleys and Udders, who get paid more than 50 times more for their tv deal.

Us/leeds etc have the fanbase putting enough money in to compete with these clubs, all being equal your big clubs would rise back to the top.

but this unfair tv share gives clubs no chance to find their rightful place.

Fight against it and get footy back where it should be. pretty weird when Brooks is leaving 25k 'pashun'ate fans in a decent stadium, to go play in front of 10k farmers in a ground smaller than our kop. among hundreds of other equally weird signings.

its not weird now i know, its the normal thing. and its all down to the money. exactly the reason to fight it then.

if prem clubs get over 100m. we should get at least 40 to 50M per year.

Even as a neutral id rather watch Sheffield Derby than udders v cardiff. or Derby v Villa over Burnley v Watford.

If the tv money stays the same, dont stop owners putting money into their own business, but if we do have to play the ffp game, make it a fairer chance for all by closing the gap on the tv money between prem and champ.

Tbf, the EFL is a joke...

They seem to go out of their way to devalue the product and kowtow to Sky, the Premier League etc.

I understand that the Championship continues to increase its ratings season after season and yet the television deals do not reflect this. Now we've got Sky broadcasting all mid-week Championship games.

Something has got to give.

Leeds must be particularly gutted.  Only the top 5 or 6 in the PL get bigger viewing figures.

They are a true "sleeping giant" and I've noticed this more recently by knocking about with a Leeds fan.  They have a lot of support for any games shown live in bars here in Spain.  Loads compared to many clubs and their fans are from everywhere in UK and Ireland and also the Scandi countries and came from the 70's era and their more recent Champions League era prior to their fall.

At school (Rotherham) in the 70's they were three teams the glory seekers supported Man Utd, Liverpool and it pains me to say, Leeds. No other clubs got a look in.

Salary caps are required and the money from sky should be used for propping up clubs which don’t make much some commercial activity, loss of gate receipts, etc.

Clubs should be allowed 2 Star players with a limited weekly cap of 80k for example, and then there should be grades below with lower caps.  Basically like how companies work.

You need to work harder / be more talented to get up the grades, and if you underperformed you can slide down the grades or get binned off.

Half a dozen of them might be enticed into a ‘new Premier league’ if the leaked European Super League happens with City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea

No they wont because if the league is set up any English teams will be able to field a team in the PL as well to keep their place open in case it goes wrong as a whole or just for that team

It would have been screened at Hillsborough like it was in the past if it hadn't been on sky

Perhaps but you don't know that will always be the case.

But please also  remember that we aren't all lucky enough to be able to get to Hillsborough on a regular basis.

Why should we care about Accrington, Doncaster etc  you could argue there are too many professional clubs 6 within 15 miles of us. Maybe Prem and championship is enough with the rest going part time/ amateur etc. Players would still be developed but maybe having resources concentrated on top 2 leagùes would strengthen the English game overall, instead of scattering minimal funds to lower league clubs. Might seem heartless, but still support the team whichever league we are in so sure other fans will keep supporting their clubs.
