He's backed himself into a corner, and has no where to go. The players he has gambled on arn't good enough, and he can't lose credibility by picking the players he's chosen to cast aside. It's game over. Managers don't recover from this, and it's time right now to lance the boil. It was a very strange appointment at the time. It hasn't worked.
