Gary Hooper has had surgery

Recommended Posts

You've got to ask though where he goes from here as a player, surely nobody gives him a contract anywhere near as decent as the one he got here?

Maybe he doesnt need another one though. Either way, pretty terrible injury record for us as i can't see him making more than 10 appearances for us this season, depending on the injury of course.

Absolute worst case scenario this.

Player we spaffed some serious money on.

One of our best players.

Contract ticking down.

Injured.

Absolute no win situation for the club.

It's bite the bullet time.

I'm sure the club are just fullfiling their contractual obligations to certain players and there's a longer game underway.

Gary Hooper is a top class striker currently unable to play for us. That is a real tragedy.

You have to wonder if he'll play at all.

Another op. Even if a minor one is a set back.

Christmas fast approaching. Won't be long until we're streaking into 2019.

We can't offer him a deal based in the last 18 months , we don't know whether he's even going to be able to come back anywhere near what he's capable.

Let him go though...and it's what £3m and an excellent player down the swanny.

Be our luck if we gave him a reduced off deal he'd stay....and end up finished.

Let him go he'd fully recover and become a great player for someone else.

I don't expect to see him again..how old is he?

Like having a rather expensive sports car in the garage which refuses the start when you want to use it.

Both depreciating in value all the time as well but only one of them results in the owner incurring weekly costs of around £30K while they are inactive!

29.

Penned a 3.5 year deal with us January 2016.

He's quality but by the time he's "fit" he will have been a long time out of the game.

Tbh I'm sick to death of wondering when these long term injured players will be back.

Now that I've calmed down after the recent thumpings I'm totally resigned to a 2/3 season rebuild with youth.

I'll sigh with relief after the summer clear out.

Someone said in the Derby thread that we have a much better squad...my hollow laughter was straight from whatever happened to baby Jane.
