Dean Smith is planning an £8million swoop to take Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan back to Villa Park.

Smith wants to make the Scotland schemer his first signing as Aston Villa boss when the January transfer window opens.

He has identified Bannan as the player who can provide the extra creativity he feels Villa need in the middle of the park and is the ex-Walsall and Brentford chief’s top target

he lives near there ground ,still supports villa ,if they can offer him a better contract and they offer us 8-10 million id say he would be off . but villa cant spend that kind of money unless they sell a player for that or more . there is zero chance of villa going up and prem payments end at the end of the season ,they are in just as much trouble as us, brum were taunting us with we are going down with the villa on Saturday, neither club will be anywhere near the playoffs and im just hoping we don't get dragged into the bottom 3 if we do we are goners .

10 million is the right price for a player proven at this level with his quality for absolute sure but not sure where villa can get the money from????? If they don't go up this year is it true that are complete fooo bared regardless of how much money the new owners have
