WAS the best keeper at the club, hasn’t played for 12 months, he’s miles away from being Championship level now

I will say it again, as I have done many times before, Dawson does not inspire confidence, from his team mates, and from those of us in the stands.

He is dreadful on crosses, does not command his area, and flaps a lot at the most basic of hadling. His kicking, whilst showing an improvement, is still just average.

Before the 'well look what's playing in front of him' brigade start, I would just say this. Dawson continues to make mistakes, each and every game, and his shortcomings are being easily exposed. Goalkeepers need to organise those in front of him, Dawson does not do that.

Is he the best goalkeepers at the club ? In Jos's eyes he is, which is a worrying state of affairs if the manager rates him better than Wildsmith and Westwood.

Although Dawson did nothing wrong "AT ALL" for either goal, he did not do very much throughout the game to inspire me with confidence. As an reasonable ex-non league defender I know how much confidence a whole side can get from a really solid commanding goalkeeper who controls, not just his box, but the entire back line and beyond.  Both Boro goals could have been averted by simple gentle paced back passes. Do the players lack a little bit of confidence in their keeper??  Yes they do !!!

The last person to be as afraid of crosses as Dawson was Dracula.

westwood needs to play the defence need a strong experienced voice behind them especially Lees as  he hasn't had a decent game yet ,Dawson is in too early for me and does not command enough behind his defence  but whatever the reason is that Jos has decided to drop Westwood  we will never know , but that said you do not lose your experience in one off season unless of course as an outfield player your legs have gone, but keepers come into their prime when in their 25/ 30's  but no matter, what I do know is all through my football life I have been shown that you play your strongest side apart from injuries and sadly I do not think we do ,and sadly that may count against us being up there with the best

Westwood made us look mugs in the home leg of last seasons derby, went the wrong way for flecks free kick and got done at his near post by a 32 year old from scunthorpe once hed twisted van acken,KW isnt gordon banks, hes 34,with a dodgy knee and back trouble which is why we got him from sunderland.

Hes been a great servant in his time, but his times up,we cant afford sunderland wages unless we ALL want yet another embargo NEXT season and further hamper the manager.

Dawsons done little wrong, his sats are strong,we all need to move on,

you can see that

Dawson is going to be a very good keeper

but he needs some work in his decision making and his distribution, he doesn't seem to be learning though from his mistakes

I doubt Dawson has any confidence in the defence after that horror show tonight.

Best keeper 2 years ago.  Let it go.

Absolute nonsense to keep bringing him up.  What good is he at this point?  Recovered from major injury?  No significant match time in ages?

He's done here.

People who think Westwood is third choice crack me up he isn't 3rd choice he isn't any choice... He will never play for this club again.

The combination of Lees and Dawson is terrible.

Neither have any confidence on the ball which may be ok when you are more direct but Jos seems to insist we play out from the back.

Everybody can see it as soon as the ball goes near them, especially the opposition.

Dawson has no chance with either goals last night. However imo I think the side needs a voice and a presence behind them to give them that confidence. Westwood provides that and Dawson doesn’t at this moment in time

Would you think it ridiculous if Westwood had breached club rules?

Just saying like.....

You can't blame Dawson for the shitshow in front of him at times but the question still stands.

How long can a keeper go without keeping a clean sheet?

The difference in quality between Wildsmith and Dawson isn't enough to warrant a seemingly guaranteed start every time for CD, and I don't want this to come across as Dawson bashing.

Our lack of clean sheets isn't down to individuals but shaking things up does mean dropping individuals.

SAD

People who don't play football or haven't ever played football won't understand what a huge difference this makes to your defending mentality. Dawson who I'm a big fan of, is nowhere near Westwood. I just don't understand the situation.

We all know Westwood should be playing, but unless Jos is sacked it's unlikely to happen.

In all likelihood, Jos thought he was definitely going so promised Dawson the number one spot.

Now he can't go back on his word.

Jos strikes me as a manager that if he thinks if dropping Westwood for Dawson would make the team better. He would do it, or dropping him for Wildsmith even.

He has done neither which tells me that the problem does not lie with Dawson and can not be fixed with Westwood.

He was playing in that derby game with the rib injury that kept him out for the next month.
