Team for Boro

The one that scores goals, which are winning  matches.

Joao scored 5 goals, 9 app, contributing to 3 wins.  These numbers suggest he is turning up more than the other strikers.

But no, lets concentrate on the WBA equaliser, when Penney put a bad cross in, Barns walked through 4 defenders/midfielders. All Joao's fault apparently.

Some player, inc Fletcher & Nuhiu seem just to get away with some right gash performances, again and again.

Joao or FF, put in a bad twenty minute spell and they get pelters on OT.

He won the game at Bristol and a good % on here what Fletcher reinstated. OT is about different opinions but sometimes, they baffle me.

I watched Joao play well and win us the game at Reading. He is more than capable of doing so.

But Its not us on here. it's our very own manager that has questioned the effort put in by players like Forestieri and Joao and dropped them as a consequence. We just run with what he says.

So when we play a tough to beat hard working team like Boro you need everybody to be at it all game.

Or Jos could go with pace up top and try and beat them on the break.

He'll probably try both during the ninety minutes

Well I’d expect FF to play, Joao to come on last 20 when they have tired

I can see nuhiu and thorniley starting this one, boro are a very big and physical side

Think he might favour Pudil over Thorniley for this one. Stronger and more street-wise than Jordan at present, and unlikely to be tested for pace in Boro’s direct style.

I see Hector, Nuhiu, Lees, Pudil, Joao all starting. Pretty formidable aerial quintet. Reach, FF and Bannan can break at pace when left up for defensive set-pieces.

I think Onomah being away with England U21’s will go against him in Jos’ thinking.

Therefore, I think it will be the same team but with Pelepussy instead of Onomah.

The only other change I can possibly see is Pudil coming in.  The tightest we’ve looked this season for my money is away at Villa and Bristol City plus home v West Brom (apart from that horrible minute).  Pudil was in for all of them.

Boro are very strong physically so he could even drop Penney and put Thorniley on the left and have the same “back 5” as Bristol City.

                                             Dawson

                                 Lees     Hector   Thorniley

              Palmer                                                 Penney

                                           Pelupessy

                              Reach                      Bazza

                                                   Nando

                                           Joao

Although I suspect Nuhiu or Fletcher may start in place of Joao, to give us that physical edge up top.

I prefer a 4-3-3 to a 5-3-2 but I think against the better teams like Boro, we’d get ripped apart in a four.  For me

Dawson (obviously Westwood but you know...)

Palmer

Lees

Hector

Pudil

Penney

Pelupessy

Bannan

Reach

Forestieri

Joao

Subs: Wildsmith, Onomah, Thorniley, Hutchinson, Preston (Matias if fit), Nuhiu, Fletcher

Joao gets the nod over Fletcher after his Bristol performance. I really like Onomah too. I just feel that we may need a more defensive player in Pelupessy for this one plus he’s been away with the under 21’s.

Would be tempted to switch to a 4-3-3 against QPR though as they are not that good.

Unfortunately we'd get murdered at set pieces with this side. Need Nuhiu to unsettle and occupy their CH

Brave not picking Reach what are your reasons for that?

Reach would come on for FF or MM. I would not pick that team week in week out either, I'd just like to see it.

Pace across an interchangeable front three, which Reach would also fit into.

Total Jos

Dawson

Palmer

Lees

Hector

Penney

Pelupessy

Reach

Bannan

Forestieri

Joao

Nuhiu

Reason why:

Palmer, Lees, Hector, Joao and Nuhiu in there for height at set pieces.

Pelupessy to shield the back four. Reach, Bannan and Forestieri there for goals and creativity. All of the midfield four is there for their energy.

Nuhiu in I’m there to be the target and make the ball stick when it gets hit long from back to front

Joao in there because he’s amongst the goals. I was tempted to go for a Fletcher / Nuhiu front two for physicality but Joao scored two last game.
