Simple Question

Why bother with Matias then? He has played waaaaaaay less games than Hutch.

Or any others that have suffered with injuries, but are now considered part of the 1st team again?

Who knows for sure but Jos is clearly dealing with a few attitude problems amongst the senior players and I’ve never seen anything but application from Matias (when fit). Plus for the duration of Jos’ time here Matias has been fit way more than Hutchenson. As per the post below, he’s not fit now so if the OP wants a simple answer then there it is for Hutchenson.

I thought Hutch was still not back up to match fitness since he returned to the specialist with his groin injury ?

I thought so too.

With regards to Boyd I’d say the simple answer would be that he’s... well, he’s just a bit shït isn’t he. Sorry to say but I don’t think he’s got the attributes that Jos wants anymore.

Nothing because we will spent another season paying Westwood, Hooper, Boyd, Hutchinson, Abdi, Jones, Lee to not play I reckon by the end of this season we will have wasted around £10-15m on salaries on players not fit, or for one reason or another not favoured in the match day squad.

So your sources are telling us that those 7 players are on an average of upto 40k per week each.

Sure

Don't understand the point of naming Rice, Shaw and others - when there is virtually no chance of them coming on to the pitch.

It is not work experience, just another thumb in the eye of Senior Pro's paid to do nothing all season.

Its planning for the future though..

Does no-one take Chansiris "Serious trouble" next year seriously?...is it a scare tactic?..If it is, its a f.ookin' bad one

Is there a reason why we are introducing these academy players bit by bit?

I reckon ,there is some thought behind it...Its like buying yer kid a goldfish to make your child realise that one day they will find it floatin' belly up

"Remember you are mortal" sorta wotsit.

We have to do it now, to get them up to pace for whats coming...

lee, Hooper, Hutchinson, Abdi, jones, Boyd?................."Remember you are mortal"

We have 2 seasons of f.ookin' fighting to come....scrapping for points..staying in there....We simply have to be prepared for it.

Take these last 2 results in isolation, forget about the post mortems of woulda , coulda , shoulda..We haven't done too shabbily have we?

Next time someone hoofs it upfield...Don't think "FFS!..he's hoofed it upfield"...Think..."Thank f.ook its not in our half"

We are in the sheeite financially, the club has virtually admitted that..So waddya do.....Sulk?..

No you get on with it....

Midtable..a couple of points offa the play offs....?

Yea it could go t8ts..then again it might not...

I think its on a knife edge this year...in more ways than one.....Fail to go up..We have to plan to simply survive next year..

These "kids" may have to step up...So its not such a bad idea to get them used to it

Might be part of EFL  agreeing to lift embargo ?

I think there’s something in that

We’ve let 8 players go

We’re refusing to play first team regulars on big bonuses

This shows EFL we are doing everything we can to comply

Anyone who thinks the likes of Westwood, Abdi, Jones, Boyd etc aren’t playing for football reasons must also take the view that the moon is made of cheese.

Still maintain this stems stems back to the time we had every single one of the first team injured. A situation never seen before in the history of football.

Be surprised if we see Jones in a Wednesday shirt again. Could go in Jan but will probably sit tight. Hutch was seeing a specialist a week ago so presume not fit to return. Westwood we all know about and will no doubt go either in Jan or end of season. Boyd - no idea but personally I don’t see where he fits in the current team so expect him to sit tight until June then leave. Football contracts dictate - they give both the club and players power in different circumstances. They are what they are.

Pretty simple. Jos said other week the future of Sheffield Wednesday is for players aged 19-23. No point giving game time to crocks on big money who will not be here in 12 months, better to develop assets. All about the bigger picture and I’m happy to back Jos on this one.

Has to be the way forward because when we fail to get promoted this year we won't have big name players on big contracts.

Youth, freebies and cast off's that haven't made the grade at prem level is the way we will go.

Does anyone else suspect that we have used up our quota with the EFL

They’ve let us resign Bannan, and bring in a couple of loanees

The fact we haven’t tied Penny down is worrying to me

Have the EFL said no more signings/contract renewals until you’ve sold someone

This could explain why Penny hasn’t signed a new contract yet

I think it’s very simple. Jos is picking his best available team in order to get the best possible result.

i find it bizzare that due to a five minute clusterfuck on Wednesday night there is now a clamour for Jones and Boyd to be brought back. With those two in the side we wouldn’t have had to worry about losing a two goal lead.

If Hutchinson had come on for the last 10 mins v WBA we’d currently be in the top 6.

That may be so but he would have to be fit enough to make the subs bench first.

Remember he was seeing a specialist physio a couple of weeks ago, and when he has played this season has been way off the pace.

Sure

The players we currently have injured or unavailable

Hooper, Lee, Westwood, Abdi, Hutchinson, Jones, Winnall, Boyd are reckon together these lot will be on at least £200,000 a week added together, so over a years that is £10.4m a company then has to pay employers National insurance at 13.8% of the gross salary so thats another £1.5m in tax so that = £12m roughly, then by law the employers also now has to pay 3% of the employee wages in pension so thats  £300,000. so thats roughly £12.3m.

Without knowing exactly what players are on depending where you read Westwood is around £20k a week, Boyd and Jones were on Premiership wages when joining us so could be £20-25k a week, Hooper was on a reported £35k a week Winnall on £20k a week, Lee and Hutch will also be well paid £15-20k a week, Abdi is meant to be on £30k+. without knowing exactly £200,000 to £250,000 a week seem a reasonable guess for those players add the employers tax, the pension not including any bonuses andwin bonuses most players have in their contracts if they play or not.

I bet i am not far away with an educated guess of £10-15m in 1 season.
