Blatter
Unbelievable thread this. Two players that most people (rightly) have been shouting not good enough have suddenly become the players who would have Saved two points last night, Really?? With those two in the team we wouldn’t have gained a two goal lead.
room0035
Last night 10 minutes left crying out for an experienced head to see us through - Jones will not win you the league but that situation was the reason we pay him the wage he gets instead Jos brings a kid on and we lose the midfield battle and then mistakes from the back line and the keeper lead to conceding two late goals. I am not going to pick fault in players before the night started i would have taken a point but being 2-0 up with 5 minutes left it feels like a lose. Nobody's saying that they should have been in the team - people are questioning why we didn't have some of the most experienced players in our squad on the bench instead of kids. As others have said, bringing on Jones to face the experience of Barry and Livermore in the middle would have been a better option than young Kirby who looked lost. What was the point of, for the second successive game, having an u-18 kid sat on the bench who'd clearly never actually be used ahead of players earning a lot of money whose older heads may well have seen that game out safely?
matthefish2002
Yes maybe Boyd and Jones may have been a better option on the bench last night. But in the long run the team should benefit from blooding younger players, wont always 100% work straight away last night but in 2-3 years time we will be glad we did.
DesWalker
Could you imagine if we'd brought Jones on and drawn 2-2.... Jos can't win, play Boyd and Jones and they get slated, bring the kids on and people asking where Jones and Boyd are!!

September65
Can understand why Boyd is out of the picture but Jones would have been a good bench option last night. Having said that Jos should have brought on Thorniley and pushed Hector forward into midfield anyway. Big mistake.

Thought it was pretty obvious what should have been done as soon as Pudil cramped up with 15 minutes to go (again) and Hector and Lees were having to cover him. Thornilly on for Pudil and leave Nuhiu on the pitch to hold the ball high up the pitch. By the way I agree Kirby was the wrong move in a game against a team as powerful as West Brom. What I don’t want to see is last nights poor substitutions being a reason to bring Boyd and Jones, Burnley’s cast off’s, back into the reckoning. mcmigo
Rotten thread about rotten players. We have moved on from the group of players that sadly spent last season in the sick room or failing to create a goal scoring chance for weeks on end. That group were neither fit nor fit for purpose. There is no point them being part of the squad anymore.
Hack-Abusi
We need to move on from the likes of Jones, Abdi, Westwood, Boyd etc and focus on putting our efforts in to supporting the youngsters Anyone notioning for the above players to come back or that we'd have won yesterdays game with them coming on want kicking in the nuts .. Jones and Boyd would have been nowhere near Barnes when he surged forward lets not flipping kid ourselves ....

Both when seen this season have looked slow and not Championship standard. We recruited two players whose legs had gone. Jones when played last season was played in a statutory position in front of centre halves. These were very negative tactics and offered little in way of attacking threat. To put him in set up we played yesterday he would have been completely lost. Boyd would have tried but engine unfortunately no longer functioning and his strengths were in going forward not defending. Watched Boyd against Leeds U-23's, and not seen him run once. Obviously not looking to impress and get back into first team. In my opinion he is a primadona on one last big contract, not giving one fu*k about club that is paying his wages. Pale Rider
The Kirby substitution was crazy but these guys don’t really deserve anymore chances. The sensible option was Thornily.

handworth52
im all for blooding youngsters penny, thorniley etc are clearly ready , but there is no way Kirby, lee, hunt etc are anywhere near ready for the championship they all look like boys in year 10 at school ,you can also ruin young lads by pushing them too quickly , im not even sure if there ready to go out on loan yet to gain experience like penney ,thorniley did and it did them a load of good. ive been very disappointed with George boyd but he played in u23s against leeds 2 weeks ago and scored and did really well so why are we paying him 30k a week when he could be on the bench last night and could have come on instead of Kirby ,why did jos put on a 9stone young kid on when we needed someone to put there foot in ,thorniley should have come on no doubt about it ,said it then said it again ,jos aint a clue with his subs this season. Sonny
Westwood Palmer Hutchinson Pudil Boyd Lee Jones Abdi Matias Hooper Fletcher Full team out of contract next summer. Mostly either too old, too slow, not good enough or always injured. What an opportunity. We’re lumbered with their contracts for now but that doesn’t mean they should be in the team. *Scrap that, I’m wrong about Hutch - the crocks/rejects eleven can just play with ten* Edited October 4, 2018 by Sonny
