George Boyd and David Jones?

Recommended Posts

What has happened to them ?

Chucking the kids on the bench willy nilly is crazy when we have experience like this at our disposal , last night proved this late on with the substitution , we needed an experienced head in there and where the fork is Abdi , thought he was meant to be back in full training for about a month?

No problem blooding the youngsters but what is the point of these two,Abdi and Westwood being part of the squad?

It's ok having the kids on the bench but they have to be good enough to compete in the championship , it's not the U23 league.

If we'd had Jones available to send on for Onomah.  We would have won last night.

He would have been a better option to bring on than the inexperienced Kirby. Why isn’t he even making the bench? Is he injured? I haven’t heard he is.

The fact that unproven youngsters are being chosen ahead of Boyd and Jones tells you everything you need to know about these 2.

For me, if we can get rid of Boyd, Jones, Abdi, Matias, Westwood, Hooper and Lee in the Summer, freeing up some much needed money on the wage bill it will be a good Summer.

Add fox and Hutchinson to that list

Boyd played in u/23 game where we were defeated 4-0 by Birmingham last Saturday.

Both when seen this season have looked slow and not Championship standard. We recruited two players whose legs had gone. Jones when played last season was played in a statutory position in front of centre halves. These were very negative tactics and offered little in way of attacking threat. To put him in set up we played yesterday he would have been completely lost. Boyd would have tried but engine unfortunately no longer functioning and his strengths were in going forward not defending.

With how long he's been out he'll need a full season to get fit......and I use the word 'fit' very loosely indeed :carlosswfc:

Boyd and Jones will never play for us again , along with Westwood .

Abdi is pencilled in for a comeback in January 2027

Jones and Boyd aren't good enough, bad signings. Play the kids and let them get experience. We are building for the long term. Look at the gems we have in Penney, Thorniley and Dawson. Under Jos there will be more. No need to play Jones or Boyd for me. We are nicely tucked in mid table 1 point off the play-offs and 9 points clear of bottom 3. Forest, Villa, Leeds and WBA all have big budgets and squads and we have done well against them. We will be fine, stay the course.

Jos can't win whatever he does can he? If he plays the likes of Boyd, Jones, etc he gets slated as 'they're over the hill'  or 'stealing a wage' etc, and if he plays the youngsters he gets slated for using kids. Lets face facts, most of us would have settled for a point before last nights game against a strong side who are one of the favorites to go up. The 11 that started last night all put a good shift in and until the last 5 minutes we'd all have been saying what a great performance it was. Dave had run himself into the ground and Onomah was injured so had to come off. Bringing Joao on to use his pace on the break made good sense and on another night could have worked. You can't blame Kirby or Dawson for either goal.... Barnes would probably have danced around Jones, Hutch, Boyd or whoever else was playing. For once why don't we look at  the positives: We're 1 point off the play offs; unbeaten at home and have just got 5 points from games against 3 of the leagues strongest sides. WAWAW.

So you’d rather us play someone like Kirby is is in way over his head? The only ones good enough are Jordan, Penney and to a lesser extent Baker and Preston. The rest are a total waste of a shirt.
