Thought we were excellent for about 75 minutes of that game. Lost momentum when Nuhiu went off which is weird because I didn’t think he played well. Anyone who still likes Joey needs to watch that game. Played very well for 80 minutes then scores an own goal (granted not totally to blame) then just let’s Barnes run from the halfway line to score. Bring him down for God’s sake. It’s such a simple decision and his powderpuff play has cost us! Final point....Kirby is rubbish! Id have settled for a point before the game but am seething right now! Convinced our defence would be better with KW there. Pudil - 5, lack of pace constantly exposed, but aside from the last 15 minutes (like most of our players) did OK throughout. Hector - 6, fine didn't do much wrong, couldn't do much for the goals Lees - 6, see above Penny - 6, ran the flank well but still want to see more defensively and a better final ball. Onomah - 5, and thats very generous and mainly because after he went off we conceded twice, contributed little going forward and does not look match sharp Pelupessy - 3, OG and should have fouled Barnes for their second spent way too long just ushering him into our box without actually doing anything to stop him, its harsh to say he would be at fault for both goals but his lack of experience hurt us tonight. This is the really hard part of being a CDM, when you play well you barely get any credit whereas one bad game or a few bad minutes really stands out. Palmer - 6, same as Penny Reach - 8, very good again, man is on fire and what a goal! Nuhiu - 7, held the ball up well and got other involved, exactly what he's good at FF - 8, nightmare for defenders, so dangerous on the ball, its scary to think how flat we are without him in the first XI, creates plenty just by closing the ball down, struggles when the only quick thinker with him is Reach Jos - 5, would be higher but disastrous subs whereas WBA triple sub changed the game... We have been robbed of 3 points tonight, it feels like a loss, It's hard to even criticise the players because after 75minutes everyone had played pretty well. Bar one or two I feel like everyone had a really good game but it just goes to show what happens if you switch off for a few minutes, hopefully thats lesson learned for Jos and the more inexperienced players in the side. The concerns for me are still I still do not have confidence in Dawson as #1, either bring back KW or give Wildsmith a chance because somebody has to be accountable for 0 clean sheets all season. Other than the front 3, everyone tonight contributed very little going forward, obviously we missed Bannan but we can't rely on Reach/FF every game to produce some magic, whoever starts as the lone striker needs to do more and I want to see more from the fullbacks going forward, especially if we are going to concede every game we need more players to be more productive going forward. PS: What a goal by Reach again!! Own goal triggered by Pudil unable to cover the right wing attack and Penney was completely missing. TV boys also said Lees was absent. First goal, got to add absent Penney; and Pudil's slowness and lack of fitness prevented him from heading off that right wing attack. Sky said Lees out of position. Gave the ball away cheaply a few times. Pudil 8 - Strong and athletic all night Penney 6 - way too casual on the ball. Look at their 2nd goal. Jos needs a really hard word. Back to basics. Gave it away cheaply often. Reach 9 - superb. Stepped up in Bannan’s absence. What a goal. Joey 7 - an 8 upto the 2nd. That was so basic and niaive Onomah 8 - really impressive display. Always available and strong. FF 8 - super finish. Always a nuisance. Gave it away cheaply. Pudil - 6.5 Defends the box well but lack of pace lets him down Penney - 6 Decent first 60 mins and would like to see him on corners more often, but was a bit wasteful and looked a bit leggy tonight, wouldn't be surprised to see him sit it out Sunday Reach - 7 Another absolute corker and fair play he has played much better after a couple of really poor performances last month Onomah - 7 Thought he did well tonight Pelupessy - 6 Up to the 80 min mark I thought he was decent, actually got in a few faces instead of back peddling , then the goals...…...not only him to blame but unfortunately had a hand in both. Nuhiu - 6 Offered very little first half, worked much harder second half Forestieri - 7 Looked bright and busy , worked hard , great outlet (must have been fouled a dozen times) missed a chance for 3 - 0 but looked much more like his old self. SUBS Game altering...…...but not in a good way Overall Sooooooooo frustrating we were well worth 3 points and then , well , we are Wednesday after all !!! Let him cut inside for a full view of goal, 2 defenders totally bypassed, would drop him, never a cb and too slow for lb now, always exposed against decent forwards Penney 6 good show bar final ball which will come Pelupessy 4 was heading for a solid 6/7 then a horror show for both goals, lacks pace, strength and aggression in that role Onomah 6 lacks fitness and desire at moment Reach 8 easily our best midfielder tonight, lacked support Forestieri 7 looked sharper and a composed finish but that miss for 3-0, nuhiu wud have been slaughtered for that Nuhiu 6 slow and no threat but held it ok, prefer fletch Joao 5 was happy when he came on for a countering threat but midfield dipped so badly that he didnt get a sniff Kirby 4 not ready Still not convinced with back 5, thought wba finally worked out we were a man short in midfield and made it tell.
