BARMYARMY2010
So Mr Sean Clare, those offers you reckoned you turned down from Premier and Championship clubs, weren't really there for you to turn down, unless Levein is lying eh.

striker
Considering no clubs wanted to pay his wages, presume the fee would have been prohibitive too. Despite interest apparently, the lad hasn't kicked a ball yet almost 2 months into the season and has now lowered his wage demands in desperation to facilitate a move to Scotland. Not sure we missed out on much TBH.
fred mciver
That's another million down toilet we could have done with. Add to Hirst's £3.5 m we could have had. Hopeless.
optimisticowl
SWFC is not very good at this football business malarkey is it? But having said that, they could do unto others as they would would do onto them, it’s a very cut and thrust business, best get the knife sharpener out DC. Absolutely no guarantee we would have got that - or anywhere near it had he gone to an English club. 2. Players out of contract, we can't force them to move where is best for us. Nor can we force them to re-sign with us. 3. Hirst at £3.5m? Where did you get that from? I assume you're talking about David's proposed move to Man Utd all those years ago, not his son who is warming the bench in the second division in Belgium? I'm actually quite pleased we got £150k for Clare, who was that sought after he's ended up playing Scottish football after playing just 5, yes 5, games for us, and he's not even a guaranteed starter for Hearts. As for Hirst, would love to have seen him develop here, but he chose to leave.

Plus £500 k saving on wages, while he wasted in Siberia - sound familiar?
Pablo Bonvin
It says Clare was prepared to go in under Hearts' salary cap but also that he was also initially commanding a salary they couldn't afford, so it looks like he'd nothing else on the table in the end. Never mind. At least Avril Levein seems pleased with this bit of business.

Jon Newsome
You lot are all very bitter, it's not a bad move at all for Clare. First of all you none of you know the reasons he didn't sign a contract with us, so when you say things like he's a greedy tw@t you make yourselves look special. He's going to go and play for a big club in Scotland, well supported, nice place to live, be on a decent wage and he'll be a star up there. He'll then get a big move to England.
