How do you solve a problem like Reach?

The new boo boy

Let's all boo him. Instead of booing the idiot manager who plays him in a different position every week.

Great idea

Agree with this, Reach looks lost and isn't having the impact on games that he is quite clearly capable of.

Why boo anyone? You don't like the manager though do you.

Yes, Jos is at fault for playing him in the wrong position in the last 2 games but that doesn't give Reach a free pass to nesh challenges that are 70:30 in his favour and generally pass the ball woefully on the few occasions he managed to get it under control.

I said after the QPR game last season we should be looking to sell him asap. Get a decent fee to reinvest/offset P&S because he's a no man's land player. By playing him we weaken the team overall in the hope he has a 7/10 game, when in actual fact he's just a steady 6/10 with glaring negatives to his game in terms of tackling and positioning.

Saying all that, i cannot fathom why Jos did not spend all of the end of last season and pre season moulding him in to a left wing back.

Reach, matias, Boyd....there’s a running theme there of players running around a lot and well....that’s it

may be unpopular but I’d get rid of all three including reach. Tried and tested to death and never gonna get better than they currently are

we need attacking players with skil, flair, the ability to change a game, not clock up their mileage and that’s it.

That’s literally all they’re offering, a lot of running, attempting to mark and the occasional defensive duties

You cant talk about him pulling out of tackles every week, he doesn't have to tackle, he's a forward.

Last season he was playing CM, with a deeper starting position, allowing him to receive the ball facing the opposition and carry it forward, which filled a vital role in Lee's absence.

We're now playing him as a no 10, where he's more likely to receive the ball in tight spaces with his back to goal. That role is much better suited to Hooper or Forestieri when they're available.

In the current 4-2-3-1 system he'd be much more effective in one of the wide positions imo. Or switch to more of a 4-3-3 so he has a deeper starting position (can't play him in a 2 with Bannan, we need a holder).

This is spot on.

After two years of Carlos playing him all over the place and then Jos switching him about they have finally managed to find a position he can’t play.

It shows up all his weaknesses and doesn’t play to his strengths.

Rather than using his running, crossing and shooting he has been turned into the teams official pointer and arm waver.

It beggars belief that a so called football manager can’t see this

Cardio/fitness for days (his best attribute) but no position in which he seems to thrive. Was player of the year last season due to first half of the season playing centrally but it hasn’t been working for a long time now.

I believe that Reech may need a rest, mentally, ability never leaves you, but Physical and Psychological fitness do.

Thing is, he was brilliant in the Millwall game playing that central attacking midfield role, when he found pockets of space to break into

You've got to look at the opponents likely starting lineups though, and it would clearly have been better to play him on the left last night when he was up against Colback and Guediora in the middle.
