Carlos Carvalhal says he's back on the market

Recommended Posts

Classless con artist who should be banned from football as not being fit and proper.

Genuinely.

Spunked more money than we've ever had and left us worse than when he joined by miles.

Did he even understand we had a decent youth set up ? His blocking of their development was criminal.

Touting himself round now like a flabby hooker.

A day out at Wembley does not cover off setting us back 5 years.

Says he's back on the market looking for work

Loves working in England and says only something unusual will take him away from England

Says he's not a rich person but has recently turned down a megabucks offers from Saudi Arabia, China, Russia

Says he has projects in his head and wants to show what he can do

Says he proved with Swansea what he can do but has unfinished business

So does someone else.

His time at Swansea quickly confirmed something which took longer to become apparent at hillsborough(because of the resources available to him). He is high impact and low sustainability. You come across many people like this in all situations in life. Confidence and or arrogance and or ignorance can get you quite far; but sooner or later someone will start to scratch below the surface.....

Got to agreed with how Carlos didn't look to the youngsters.

Play Thorniley - good homegrown centreback

                               OR

Pay £4 Million for Van Aken - Never heard of him & turns out to be utter Sh!te.

What a CLOWN.     :carlos:

Carlos was manager of the football club when all these young players were developed.

Fans can’t have it both ways.

Hence the main reason people have a grudge

We're the ones left with paying the price for years to come

Why some fans still defend this absolute travesty of a time under Carlos I will never know because 99% of the issues at this football club have come directly from his actions

Not defending it - to suggest 99% of our issues is down to him is a bit harsh though.  Our chairman has made mistakes too, and they've come home to roost.

He ignored them.

He played his 11 favourites whenever possible, almost crippling several.

He didn't improve the starting 11 in 3 years.

His focus was 100% short term and his own interests.

No desire to develop youth or build a solid foundation for the future.

Awful awful manager.

All just my opinion and in no way portrayed as fact.

I have a bit of sympathy on the young players as he was under pressure to go up and had a big squad. He did send them out on loan and used some in the cups. It’s only really now that some of these lads are ready with the exception of Penney who could’ve played earlier. Clare wasn’t his kind of player as he runs with the ball and he hates that.

Ill always be thankful to him for some of the best seasons we’ve had out of the last 18. Although during that time I was also critical of him and the soft underbelly he allowed to develop and the lack of defensive steel. I wouldn’t have cared had he left after the Brighton defeat at their place as there was no sign of anything changing.

He did bring in the likes of Joao, Reach, Van Aken, Fox and Winnall with a view to the future even if some of them haven’t really worked. Although I dare say if we sold Reach and Joao in the coming months FFP wouldn’t be an issue any longer. Jones and Emmanuelson were head scratchers, Abdi seemed decent at the time but he didn’t know where to play him which was a waste.

Ultimatley we are paying the price for not going up and also for refusing to sell players so he is only part of the issue. However, as I said earlier in the thread by the time the third season came around he had completely lost control and even to this day he thinks he was right and that we would be fine. It’s that third season and the stubborn comments that follow from him that are having a negative effect particularly given that his legacy is that we are needing a period of recovery.

He was also here when we dropped the stripes, raised ticket prices, and baked cake ball.

It's a bit irrational of you to blame him for all these things just because he was manager at the time!

I'll give him a helping hand with his CV.

Teams managed
1998–1999 Espinho
1999–2000 Freamunde
2000 Vizela
2000–2001 Aves
2001–2002 Leixões
2003–2004 Vitória Setúbal
2004–2005 Belenenses
2006 Braga
2006 Beira-Mar
2007–2008 Vitória Setúbal
2008 Asteras Tripoli
2009 Marítimo
2009–2010 Sporting CP
2011–2012 Beşiktaş
2012 İstanbul BB
2015–2017 Sheffield Wednesday
2017–2018 Swansea City

This CV is so abysmal its unreal. Wednesday were the only club not to realise he is a coach of limited ideas who only knows one way of playing. We did well initially as we had novel style and he was unknown once worked out he was complete liability. the horrendous situation he has left has to be seen to be believed. How on earth somebody can think he was responsible for youth development during his time at club is beyond me. He has delayed progression of several youth prospects and left us with a host of 30 plus something footballers who are at best bit part players.

Now his agency are promoting him to try and get him a job he does not deserve. Last week they were pushing him for a job in Turkey, this week they are pushing his name in England as that was not successful. We have lots of English professionals who deserve a chance rather than this Agency promoted con artist.

When you see that that CV, you have to question who decided he was the right man to give 30 million to and trust with one the most important periods in our history.

He'd been unemployed for 3 years FFS.

"Projects in his head"?

Keep threatened clubs in the division and get aspiring clubs promoted - what other 'projects' could a manager have? Especially one with zero interest in laying down foundations at a club.

You think all our promising youngsters were signed by Jos?
