OFFICIAL January 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Recommended Posts

I just wonder by being quiet in the market we’re trying to show the EFL that we’re respecting their P&S rules so come the time a ruling is made on whether we’re on the right or wrong side of them, the EFL may look favourably on us when it comes to deciding on a punishment?

Championship side Brentford have accepted a £12m offer from Bournemouth for Wales international Chris Mepham.

The Cherries were close to signing the 21-year-old defender last week and he is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday.

This move to Bournemouth now appears to be a done deal but it is being reported in the press that Aston Villa offered a bigger transfer fee and better personal terms!

It doesn’t surprise me, if they were really hoping to sign Cahill, he’d have cost a similar amount

If someone offer £100,000 for fox we should accept then Penney will be able to be first choice left back and develop into a decent championship quality fullback. Isn't Fox out of contract in the summer too or does he have another year with us?

Looking at Penney’s Instagram he’s just had a second op on his arm. Dunno the details.

Really don't understand why this has not been reported on at all that the lad simply has an injury and that's why he is not involved he was incredible at villa so can't see Bruce not considering him in the future. Fox is playing really really well at the moment but would love to see penney as our future left back

It’s strange isn’t it. Why didn’t the club tell us this. Did anybody ask? Guessing Reach and Pudil are our back up LBs now.

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has agreed personal terms with Middlesbrough and is undergoing a medical on Tuesday.

The Nigeria international held talks with Boro manager Tony Pulis at the Middlesbrough training ground last week and is now close to signing a short-term deal with the Championship club.

They’re a strange model, they get all their youngsters from other academies, Mepham I think was with Chelsea. They don’t develop their own. Their reserve side doesn’t even play in a league, playing mostly friendlies overseas

The model seems to work very well, probably better than the vast majority of Championship youth setups. Saw the other day that their B team or whatever they call it has gone really deep in a European youth tournament playing the likes of Bayern Munich etc.

Do wonder if this might be the way for us to go, our youth setup has been doing better of late but we've still got a long way to go if we want to match the production line that someone like Leeds have got.

Wow that’s a very impressive signing for them.

Obi Mikel makes Darren Potter look like a forward passing midfielder. Impressive named signing though but I would not like him here though even if we could afford him.

Sort of agree. player of his past calibre could surely get a bottom end Prem club if he was still half decent.
