OFFICIAL January 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Recommended Posts

DC cannot win, he comes out with an honest statement telling everyone how it is but then gets slated with people saying he should have kept it a secret. Not that long ago everyone was saying that they wanted to be kept in picture

Going forward, I can see teams just having loan and home grown players in the team as most will come under the new rules

We need to seriously look at selling people like Reach, Bannan, FF and hope that we can bring in some hidden gems for next to nothing to replace them. Be gutted to lose our top players but it’s something that has to happen because of the poor way the club has been run. We need Bruce in to wheel and deal but by the time February comes he won’t be able to do that. What a crap situation.

Do you not think Bruce is on the phone daily

He needs to tell us, because we deserve to know, but we need to keep it quiet. If this gets out we will only have ourselves to blame

I think this is the new reality of the situation.

Bannon will be the greatest loss (imo). I like Reach but he's nowhere near as influential.

FF can go if anyone will take him. Not done anything of note for a season and a half barring his cameo in the closing games of last season (mainly via injury).

Would love us to sign someone similar to Harry Wilson that Derby have got on loan from Liverpool. Really does seem an exciting youngster, quality winger.

Wilson signed for derby because of frank lampard and his style of football .......we’ve had Carlos the clown and jos the dross ... and have ended up with the squad we have now.....no up and coming youngster will come to Wednesday!!!......just 30 plus ..injury prone..uninterested..has been !!!!:picnic:

It's not really the new reality is it We should have quietly gone about our business, doing what needed to be done behind the scenes If that meant wheeling and dealing, then so be it

We knew that, and the chairman certainly will have known that

The only reason for raised expectations came about, 2 weeks ago, when DC appointed an expensive coach, and promised him some sort of budget

DC hasn't told us, what, if anything, has changed in those 2 weeks Now suddenly we have this alarmist statement, alerting all to our predicament, thus diminishing our chances of getting a decent return on our players, which might be the only way out of this mess

Exactly this !!!!!!    his naivety is staggering....................every club in the world has to sell to help fund arrivals apart from us apparently.

And now , if he HAS finally woken up to the fact that we DO have to sell , he has just let the football world know that we are desperate , thus , at a conservative estimate, knocking a good 25% off any fee we do receive.

Decided "bitterness" has become the root of many issues on Owlstalk recently.

We signed an Under 20 World Cup Winner from Tottenham recently but don't let that stop you. Keep spouting tho, entertaining.

If he wants to back Bruce, sell some players to give him room to manoeuvre.

This is easy said than done. Reach is wanted but he is about only asset we would get any serious money for.

FF has court appearance pending and if found guilty who knows.

Bannan rated by some Wednesday fans but how much interest is there in him. He was in last year of contract and happy to sign tells me not many queueing for signature.

Tom Lees would have a price but CC said had degenerative tendon problem at a press conference if this is true any fee would be small.

Joao would fetch a bit of money as can score goals but does get more than fair share of knocks and is inconsistent another who got to last year of contract and happy to sign which suggests not much out there for him either.

The rest well they are in bargain basement. Penney showed real promise we then changed his position and now missing in action he did generate interest as a bit of pace.

People may want players but we would have to subsidise salaries to get them out of club.

Not sure how honest it is when he's claiming that all the money we have spent was just to avoid relegation, especially after he stated he wanted promotion pretty quickly when he purchased the club.

Isn’t that something you just assumed though?
