BREAKING NEWS - Barry Bannan Re-signs until 2021

Recommended Posts

Didn’t doubt for a second that he’d sign a new contract once the embargo got lifted. He’s playing the best football of his career, he loves it here, he’s said as much and it was actually believable. Fair play to him - proper pro.

Don't get why people want him to be captain, better he be left unencumbered to focus on the onfield stuff which he does so well.

he looks most like a leader to me with his performances on the pitch. He’s our best player, he’s dragging the team along at times and you can see him talking to and encouraging the youngsters etc. I wouldn’t hesitate to give him the captaincy.

Was expecting him to leave if I'm honest.

There has been a lot of hype about him recently not just from Wednesday fans, so expected someone a bit further up the table and chance of promotion coming in.

No doubt we have offered him a fantastic deal, but for him to sign shows some loyalty too.

Bannan has been saying for months he is in talks with extending his contract. Congrats to a journalist for predicting this though.

Is this the same journalist that predicted one or two would have to leave before the embargo got lifted then blocked people for questioning this when it turned out not to be the case?

Hate on Nixon all you want, but he call this happening on Sunday. No one else did.

just read your post again, clearly he’s blocked you so you’re angrymad at him

Bannan, consistently one of our best players and Joao, a raw prospect wo has shown what he is capable of in spells but needs more consistency have now both signed new deals in what most of us seem to agree are troubled times for us financially.

As you say, both could have walked away for nothing in a few months and few would have been surprised if this had have happened with seemingly better prospects elsewhere.

The fact they have signed surely shows that something behind the scenes is going better than the information we have access to would suggest?

Hope your right pal
