Thought he was really good and the freedom he was allowed worked massively, covered every blade of grass going forward and tracking back. Great to see him looking properly fit seems motivated to get himself into a position to be a nailed on starter. He might become the player we all thought he would after THAT goal at Leeds.

You’re living in dreamland.

He can’t cross or finish, and scored one goal against Leeds three years ago (off his shin)

We should be doing so, so much better

Who do you suggest we get with our transfer warchest of an a piece of string, a conker and a toffo with some pocket fluff on it?

A winger on loan who can run and cross, with genuine ability.

something we have had years to do instead of spaffing it on rubbish like David Jones and Jacob Butterfield.

You haven't been impressed with Matias at all since he got back in the squad?

if anything I’m trying to warn against blind optimism in someone who is not going to help us get anywhere cos he isn’t up to it.

And no I thought he was appalling at Brentford.

honestly answer:

has as he been worth the 7 figures paid for him?

has he played enough games?

have the three years been a success?

And he has not been injured for the majority of the 3 years either.

Agree. And he finds himself in good company for that game

No.

Depends if you think he should be in the team...

have the three years been a success?

Undoubtedly no.

And he has not been injured for the majority of the 3 years either.

Hasn't he?

Chased shadows for much of the game, but didn’t get on the ball anywhere near enough.

Lots of points for effort and teamwork, few for anything else.

Absolutely bang on. Loads of enthusiasm and energy. No end product . Goes to ground too easy for me.

Consistency is key now for players like him, Palmer, Thornily, Penney etc ...

need games and need to grab opportunity when they can and perform

I think you make the key point.

It looks like reputations count for nothing with Jos. FF, Westwood and Hutchinson have learned the downside of this. Penney, Dawson, Matias and Preston have made it work for them.

Fletcher, Hooper, Boyd, Jones, Lee, Abdi.....all start with a clean slate with Jos. Work their nuts off when given a chance - they will prosper. Give less than their best - they will see more of the bench than they are used to.

Its great.

I am very satisfied. In preseason he was looking to his own form. To his  challenge, in the last few weeks he makes a lot of progression. He is the player who always had the speed. Looks to spaces behind the defence. Looks to the spaces between the central defence and full backs. He’s working very hard in the transition back to defend .He’s making a lot of progression. He has (with) hard work (made himself) an option for the first XI .

He scored against Sunderland this season didn't he? Good pressure on the defender, cool finish.

Lots of good signs from the man.

He just needs the confidence that a run of games and a few goals will give.

And maybe a few Bee Gees songs pre match.
