Penny / Thorniley

Recommended Posts

These two lads impress more every time I see them

they look well ahead of some of our season pros

vert positive about these two I think they can secure themselves a regular first team spot this season which would be exclant for the for the club and the future

I’m hoping the same for baker and Kirby too

Another great performance from Dawson too

very very positive

well done boys

I think Jos will use them wisely, they’re still young kids that are developing, he will know when to leave them in and when to leave them out.

From what I saw of Preston against Millwall, he was excellent, he didn’t make the squad today

That’s the sign of a manager that knows what he’s doing, he sees the players most days, he’ll be in constant contact with the coaches

In Jos I trust

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

Bannan has already created numerous efforts on goal via his free-kicks, and seeing as he is left footed and with more seniority, then Bannan will continue to do so.

However Penny can score direct from free kicks and has a proven record doing so.

Not sure what 'seniority' has to do with it. If Penney is capable of playing a more dangerous ball into the box, then the coaching staff ought to be assigning the duty to him.

How many goals have we scored from Bannan set pieces this season - why would the coaching staff instruct a kid to take them instead?

In the juniors.

We have scored most of our goals this season from Bannan set-pieces - yet people want a kid to take them instead?

Maybe an idea though to mix things up on occasions, good teams do that to catch the opposition out. If you've more than one dead ball specialist in the side utilise this. Bazzas shooting on goal is generally very poor, but his delivery into the box is good, so for me why not let penny have a crack if it's in a position where a direct effort on goal is realistic, yet let Bazza take the wider or deeper one's.

Nothing wrong with having options and mixing it up. How many goals has Bannan scored direct from free kicks for us?

How many shots did he have from freekicks today?

His deliveries we on the money all game, as shown by the two goals we scored

Having these youngsters stepping up could be really important for the club. There is good potential in all of them, there must be around 10 with a chance of playing and credit to those responsible for developing them.

Im not knocking Bannan here, im just agreeing with the chap who said he wanted to see Penny have a few. The argument that he only did it for the juniors is irrelevant otherwise whats the point in having an academy.
