2003-4 season stats

Recommended Posts

Bored yesterday afternoon so got on with a Wednesday related job: A Wikipedia page for the 2003-4 season - the only season we've had since 1990 that doesn't have one. What an absolute shower we were that year!

Anyway, here it is. Please let me know if there are any errors, and also where I might be able to get the attendances for each game from.

Top work! You know your season hasn't gone as planned when the likes of Port Vale, Tranmere, Luton and Wrexham finish above you. Also Stockport County only finished a point bellow us! Was Carlton still their manager at that point?

9 defeats in the last 13 games. No wonder Turner released almost the entire first 11.

Never forgot that Rushden and Diamonds game 0-0 utterly appalling game.

This was the Beswetherick season too.... Huge sigh

Another way could be to visit 11v11.com, look at sheff wed vs opponents then just check attendances for all matches that season.

They usually have stats like that on most matches for most teams.

The worst season I can remember as a Wednesday fan.

Even with all the doom and gloom at the minute I'd  like to think this season can't be as bad.

Surely?

Cheers will try that.

Wow, many bad memories. Sturrock's Plymouth outclassing us. Kim Olsen (Notts Co. away). Blackpool beating us 4 times. QPR going up at Hillsborough and outclassing us.

Some good ones, Brunt scoring a free kick on his debut. Peterborough was a good day out and was a good start to the season. Shows how much the first 3 games mean though.... :luhukay: Proudlock hattrick... OK really scraping the barrel now.

Thank you for this. It has made me laugh out loud a few times. We were god awful. Dean Smith must have taken notes of what not to do in that year. Terry Cooke was a good player. Ndumbu-Nsungu had his moments. Brunt went on to get 65 caps for Northern Ireland and have a good career. Look at that finish to the season, wow, if we ever think now is bad, that will always be worse. Beswetherick and the 27th Sept 2003 when Marcel Cas ripped him apart and the kop and south stand baying for his blood. though we were terrible. Still took 4 points from Barnsley. lol

Horrific.

No other words.

Can you imagine Dean Smith when his agent rang him that previous Christmas.

32 years old. Spent his entire career bobbing about between divisions 3 & 4.

Thinking about eeking another year out and then hanging up the boots.

"Sheffield Wednesday want you Dean. They want you to be skipper as well"

"Sod off."
