I agree.but as much as having these two NOW would improve matters they were not the TYPE of centre halves we needed.

We need a tall dominant no-nonsense, good in the air captain type.................and have needed one for TWO AND A HALF YEARS NOW !

If the back comes back I'd have been more than happy with Lees flanked by Sasso and Venancio.

These big no nonsense types.l ike the two that Brentford have sold in the last 12 months  for  £2m and £4m .

While were looking at 200 other blokes all over the world...

We’ve been clear of the embargo since last Thursday Fair enough, the cup tie came too early, but we really need to have a few new faces available for the Millwall game We surely didn’t wait for the embargo to be lifted, before starting the process?

Just because the embargo has been lifted doesn't mean we are suddenly flush with cash to bring in several loanees.

And if you think that situation is bad now, just wait until next summer.

Well yes, next summer may be a bit of a shocker. It may be a shocker before then, in January if we aren’t in with an outside chance of promotion If we aren’t, there will be a fire sale of our better players, and unless we have a big enough cushion, we’ll almost certainly be relegated

We have been in need of a CB for best part of three years, Then Fred started to improve just as Tom started to deteriorate. Then we didn't sign Fred. By my reckoning we now need two CB's and sharpish !

There was one right on our doorstep at Barnsley - Marc Roberts, a proper no nonsense Championship centre back. For some bizarre reason we fizz about looking all over the shop.

You’d have hoped that having known we needed an EXPERIENCED centre back after releasing Venancio and Loovens, and also knowing the embargo, not shared with us until recently was ending, we’d have someone lined up and ready to go.

Is how it works at well run clubs.

Might have missed this on here, but according to The Star were in the market for a centre back. Hope that’s not the only position we’re after.

We probably wont be in existence by next summer.

Batth would be a good fit

Id also give Leicester a call and see if we could do a season loan deal for Danny Simpson. If we were pushing our luck I’d ask about Andy King as well

Leicester Owe  us big time but we might have spoken out and passed em off!

Absolutely this, and ditto any other loan signings we wanted to bring in

Centre back (a permanent one) has been a must for nearly 3 years.

Our reluctance to sign up Sasso and latterly (for whatever reason Venancio) showed incredible short term thinking.

Luckily we have some decent youth players coming through in that area.

However the environment must be right in which they learn their trade.

Another couple of defeats and I fear it won't be a forgiving place to be getting your stripes.

Christ .. i can't believe with the riches we had 3 years ago that we would be desperately searching the loan and free transfer market to bolster our already neglected and underprepared back line

absolute criminal ..

you look back and think, imagine .. just imagine if we had both Sasso on and Venancio on the books full time ... them 2 and Lees in a back 3 would be superb ..

Only highlights further out scattergun approach to the transfer market

And raises once again the question as to why so many people who's best interests aren't Sheffield Wednesday Football Club were so relied on for advice

Cracks started to show with the Van Aken debacle .. not him as a player - don't blame him for putting pen to paper here .. but being fed the story of looking at over 200 defenders .. what a load of cobblers!
