Money for signings - free agents

Recommended Posts

Here's a list of current free players still knocking about. It may not be fully correct.

There must be a few on there which would interest us if the money is available.

Dutch LB Miquel Nelom was linked with us back in January and is still knocking around. Possible deal to be struck?

Not sure there’s much point if they haven’t had a pre season.

Loans of players who have been training all summer are what we need

Some top players available there!

Can get some good experience for free and spend money on up and coming players in future that would be a fantastic change in transfer policy

I would not sign any players over 30. We have too many old ones as it is.

I suspect most have injury or some other issue or they would have been snapped up.

Sakho would be some signing.

Surprised no one has snapped him up yet.

Wages?

We need players that are up to speed fitness wise. May be easier said than done though with us having to leave new signings until now.

Well I’m of an era where I’ve seen plenty of good pros come on a free and finish their careers successfully with us.

we need another leader and looking at that list if they are fit, injury free and up for a 12 month challenge I’d definitely be talking to Robert Huth and James Collins.

Can imagine Jos has been waiting 3 weeks to get the green light to sign Adam Maher.

We won’t be looking at any of these players.

To be honest, I am not even sure we’ll bring anyone in, think the philosophy is give our youth a go. Plus we still have to hit financial fair play at the end of the year so we’ll still need to cut costs.

Nasri, Sako, Ben Arfa might spice things up for the 10 minutes they perform in games.

Having said that, last time I saw Nasri play in Spain, he was pretty decent.

Would cost about £250,000 a week in wages.

Nasri is banned... although I wouldn’t put it past us...

I’m sure they’d all be busting a gut to come here

That's cheap compared to Jones .

They're free agents at this point for a reason. That could be age, talent, wage demands or fitness. We're best off going down the loan route so we are lumbered with more players.

It’s a bit late in the day, but wonder if we have staff looking for players released that have careers and resale value in front of them rather than last contracts.

A modern day Brunt or Whelen. Now without a team of analysts, any scouting experience outside of champ manager 02,  here are some examples....

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wallace-oliveira/profil/spieler/181779 Ex Chelsea Brazilian right back Wallace Oliveria, had loans at Inter, Vitesse only 24.

Going back to a policy of players with points to prove and even previously abandoned https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-rodwell/profil/spieler/57079

Rodwell has sold previously for over 10m twice and at 27 still young enough to get his love for game back and rediscover his pre Man City form. I’m sure who ever signs and plays him will sell him fairly quickly a bit like Caulker up in Scotland.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stefan-stangl/profil/spieler/84537

Only a bit of fun, but point I’m getting st is there are players that teams who take a chance on will turn profit, even if a low release, loyalty contract where chunk of transfer goes to player needed to entice them.

Rodwell? A player who has been on £100k a week and been harsh for 4 years?
